I recommend to only buy the genuine battery made by LG. The others doesn't work that long. It's well worth the money to buy the genuine battery.

Does the battery have warranty? I got my phone in may and the battery has been acting funny at times. It will die overnight. I do not have it plugged in the whole day

The best way is to not over charged your battery by not having it plugged in for to long. This over charges the battery. Only needs to be charged enough for the fullest

How do you remove the battery from the base?

It's very easy to remove the battery from the battery holder with just sliding out the battery from the holder by an easy slide to the right side. It's an easy fix.
