What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Breaks frequently I purchased this product in 2014. In less than 2 years I have had it repaired 4x. Clothes do not come clean unless you wash it in the longer settings. Goes off balance without the loads being large. Gets moldy inside just like the front loaders. It has never been a quiet machine so to read reviews that the machine is quite no way it is not. This will be the last LG appliance I will ever buy. With a family of 5 there is no time to be waiting for the repair company & then waiting another 1-2 weeks for parts. I'm starting to think I have a lemon!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits KING size bedding including a comforter! I bought this washer and matching electric dryer in early 2014 from Menards. I have never had a problem with the washer (or dryer). PREP LOAD TO AVOID ERROR: I have always been mindful about balancing the load in the basket before starting. Even the old washer my parents had since the 80's had issues with large denim loads that would cause the washer to "walk" until someone went to re-balance the load. I always make sure when I load it up to distribute the clothing evenly. I love the size since I can wash our king size bedding (including the comforter) without issues. I have even washed queen bedding and extra blankets! I actually have never had the unbalanced error stop my washer as other owners have experienced. When the basket would start to knock when I wash the bedding or towels I would go pause it, then redistribute load and start it again. This has happened maybe a couple of times since I bought it when I didn't get the load quite right when I was washing bedding. Until it got wet it was hard to tell if it was balanced right. WASH TIME: As far as the time to complete, if I'm in a hurry I will use the speed-wash cycle and adjust temp/spin. Many of the front loaders take just as long to complete, or longer from my experience. From what I've heard from family and friends who have new washers as well, they all take about the same amount of time to complete. I have not had the issues of the refiling and draining when it tries to determine the right water level, mine appears to sense the level of water necessary on the first try. My water bill is less than I had with the old washer with the 3 water levels that would overfill on small loads since the small wasn't small enough. FREQUENCY OF USE: Several times a week--more than 4 loads a week. HEAVY SOIL LAUNDRY: As far as heavily soiled clothing...I don't know how well it performs. I grew up in a family that works outside a lot and can get pretty greasy, muddy, grass-stained and grimy and I haven't tested it with those kinds of stains. As a runner I will get a little muddy from time to time and mowing the lawn/gardening puts mild dirt and grass stains on my clothes, but I make my own detergent that is safe for HE appliances since I have allergies to some of the products out there and I don't have issues. In general I'm good at getting the tough stains such as tomato, coffee, grass and blood out of clothing, so maybe more can be attributed to me rather than the washer. WHAT I WOULD CHANGE: Not much. The only bad thing I can think of is the inability to completely customize any load setting. Thus, I have to settle with tweaking the predetermined settings as much as I can. For the most part, the Prem Press/Casual and Sport Wear cycles gets me what I need. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have never had to call so I cannot comment about the diagnostic button or LG customer care quality. I hope this review helps those out there trying to decide what to get. Just remember, you can't just dump laundry in, put in detergent and start. You MUST take a few seconds to distribute the load evenly around where the agitator would be. I always make sure to spread out the load and make a hole, like a doughnut, where the agitator would be and it seems to keep me from running in and adjusting it. I can just fill, spread, add detergent, start and walk away and not come back until the end of wash signal.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok... I have two problems with this washer, the first being you cannot have very large loads or it will stop and give you an error code of uneven, this happens A LOT, the second is you do not want cabinets above your washer as the washer door will hit them so it can't open fully so you have to hold the washer door EVERY time you load or unload it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nightmare!! The LG model wt5070cw washer is complete junk! It has been displaying an UE error code since the first load. The UE problem has only gotten worse. Don't believe the positive reviews on this site. Go search the web and you will find countless others who are having the same problem. LG knows this washer needs a software update and a new rotor to fix the problem, but they refuse to make it right with their customers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible washer This washer has been awful from the beginning. It goes unbalanced all the time, filling, draining and filling again with water trying to balance itself. I can't understand how it received an energy star rating. It sucks more energy and wastes more water than if I let the shower run all day long! This happens with small and large loads. There should be negative star options. I have no idea how consumer reports rated this so high. I can't explain enough how much I loath this washer. Will never buy another LG appliance!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lag Waveforce I read all reviews I thought. I regret buying this thing. It never balanced. Clothes do not spin. It is so noisy and wobbly. Horrible horrible horrible. To top it off I use it for my 90 year old with Alzheimer's and we needed a reliable washer for her bedding. Like always I chose the wrong one! Thank goodness I have a 3 year warranty. I hope they do something about this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this washer! I have had this washer for less than two years. I have had continual problems with UE codes and unbalanced loads. It does not matter if I have a small load or a large load. When unbalance, the washer will repeatedly fill with water and drain to try to rebalance. It wastes a tremendous amount of water and time. I've had loads take three hours to wash and that includes me rebalancing the load by hand several times. The software was replaced once under the one year warranty. Now I will have to pay for additional repairs - no thank you! Also, the water drain holes are so small that grass or other small particles can not drain away from the clothes so loads are never completely clean. I am going to replace this machine with another brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful washing machine!!! I wish I could give this NO STARS! I will say it washes well.Taking over an hour for each load, which is a bit ridiculous. goes out of balance way too often no matter the size of the load, and being a so called high efficacy washer its a joke. When it goes out of balance it tries to correct itself, spins, goes out of balance, drains the water and refills.. So there goes my whole weekend just to do 3 loads of clothes, towels and bedding.

My LG wt50703w won't turn on. It doesn't seem to be getting any power. I know the outlet is good.

I ran my washer around 3pm yesterday and when I woke up this morning there was water everywhere. There is no water leaking around the water lines. Would the washer be cracked or leaking somewhere?

Asked by: Cincatt
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. Check to ensure that the leak was not caused by overloading the wash tub and allowing the water to run over the top of the wash tub. If this is not the case, then the unit may require service. When I select SPIN ONLY, it fills with water prior to spinning. I would think SPIN ONLY would in fact, only spin. Why does it do this and how can it be fixed?

Asked by: CoachMK21
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. Check to make sure that the CYCLE SELECTOR dial is not being adjusted before setting the SPIN ONLY cycle. If it is, this will override the SPIN ONLY function, and start a normal cycle. For additional information, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Can it soak overnight? It drains my water and detergent when it wants! If door is left open, if pause is set for more than 10 min, if soak button is pressed... Are telling me I can't soak overnight?

Asked by: Yomxcr
I apologize, but no; this washing machine is not designed to allow for an overnight soak. The SOAK feature allows 30 minutes of soaking before the start of the wash cycle. If the lid is left open, or the PAUSE is set, the washer is designed to deactivate and drain the wash tub after about 8 minutes.

LG top loader smells and gross built up material are coming out once it starts agitating. I've used different brands of tub wash and used bleach and have used vinegar. I need to do 3-5 tub wash cycles to get smell and slime out. Always left lid up.
