What people are saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 Years, 3 Months and it's dead.. I purchased this 12000 BTU unit to replace a 10000 in the living room in May of 2018. It is now August 2020 and it has stopped working properly. It still runs but the compressor will not kick in. I have tried all that LG said to do to reset it but to no avail. I really had faith in LG since the little 6000 BTU in one bedroom has been in use since 2013 and still works like a charm. My recommendation is if you are going to purchase this or any unit also purchase an extended warranty with it.... they don't make them like they use to, sorry LnG (Lifes not Good).

The compressor will come on for about 5 minutes and then that's it. 7/29/20 Called Customer Service and they wanted to send a repair person out.

Is there a specific outside cover I can buy?

Asked by: Glen1955
Home Improvement stores like the Home Depot, Lowe's etc., sell a variety of Air Conditioner covers and you can find many more online. Use the W x H x D dimensions of 23.62" x 15.00" x 22.20" for the LG 12,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1216ER to find a cover that best suits your needs...^IFV

Does this unit have a drain plug in the base pan?

Asked by: Tiann
This air conditioner is equipped with a slinger fan. The fan has an outer ring that runs in the water that collects in the base pan if it gets deep. That condensate is then picked up by the fan and expelled through the condenser, making the air conditioner more efficient.

Hi, I have a window opening of 26"Wx16'H. I understand the opening states 27" so that you can put your hands around it, but would I be able to install the left and right curtains? Basically 2 5/8", or 1 1/4' on either side.

Asked by: davejase
The minimum window opening of 27" that the LG 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1216ER is the minimum space required for the left and right guide panels that have the curtains attached can fit into...^IFV

Hello. My window is not quite 24.75 inches wide, but the inner space can accommodate the "wings" of a unit for almost another 1.5 inches,  Will that combination accommodate the LW1216ER / 12,000? Also, can I use a NO-DRILL bracket? Thanks.

Asked by: DOKENN
Hi DOKENN. The ENERGY STAR® LG 12000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1216ER has a width of 23 5/8" and is designed to be installed in standard single-hung or double-hung windows with actual opening widths from 27" to 39". The reason for the recommended opening widths is that you have to attach the left and right frame guide that have the curtains on them that you need to close any gaps between the air conditioner and your window frame after installation and for ease of installation. Your current width of 24 3/4" would only leave you with an opening of 9/16" on either side of the air conditioner to work with, probably less if your window is not quite 24 3/4". That is an extremely narrow opening and you will not be able to get your hands around the unit to install it, but you definitely will not be able to attach the left and right frame guides to use the curtains. The unit weighs 81 lbs and that will be another concern when attempting to install the unit if you are not able to get your hands around it to install it...^IFV

Anyone experienced an issue regarding the compressor continuing to run even after unit is powered down? It never cycles, runs constantly even with the thermostat set over 83!it's as if there's a relay switch stuck. 3 year old unit, been thoroughly cleaned
