Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delivers the Goods on all Features! I am so glad I bought this LG Thin q 12000 BTU window unit. It delivers on all promises. It is actually quiet. It cools more than the recommended square footage. It was easy to install. Everything needed to make installation efficient was in the carton. The filter is easy to access. The remote is effective at 30 feet. Thank you LG, for making an excellent product.

The voltage on LG air conditioners does not jibe with our house' voltage. We have 110 voltage, not 115. How does this work? Would we be endangering our home with a current that our wires can't handle? What about 230 volts vs 220?

Asked by: NEKer
No, you would not be endangering your home with a voltage or current that your wires can't handle by plugging the LG 12,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1217ERSM into your receptacle or outlet. You'll often hear voltages in your home referred to as 110V, 115V, or 120V. This can be confusing but the bottom line is they are referring to the exact same thing. 120V is the AC voltage on a single hot wire in your home with respect to neutral (or ground). The outlets are standard 110V. The air conditioner unit is listed as 115V. In most homes, the standard household voltage is 120 volts. The power company supplies two, 120-volt cables, or legs, of electrical current to your home. Wires going to standard receptacles in your walls are 120 volts and are suitable for 110-volt or 115-volt air conditioners. So that would mean your voltage should be between 114 and 126 volts. The U.S. is now 120/240 volts. Most electric motors and many electrical appliances (especially those with motors) have a nameplate rating of 115 volts (meaning that they're designed to run optimally at 115 volts). The owner's manual for the air conditioner advises you to plug the air conditioner into a standard 3-wire grounding outlet rated at 15A/120VAC/60Hz protected by a 15A time-delay fuse or a 15A circuit breaker. Sometimes you may hear 110 volt plugs referred to as 120 volts. Do not be confused by this; think of them as one and the same. In the US, 110V isn't a standard voltage. But appliances are usually designed to work with a range of voltages. 110V is only 8% lower than 120V, so even if the voltage is only 110V, say at the end of a long line, any 120V appliance should work fine...^Ivan

My unit was on dry unbeknownst to me for 4 hours and now that it's corrected the unit makes a vibrating noise when on cool. Unit is on it's third year cooling 8 hours a day, 5 months out of the year. Is it just worn out? Model LW1217ERSM LG 12,000 btu

Asked by: Cinblin
Regrettably, there is no way to determine if the LG 12,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1217ERSM is worn out or why it is making a vibrating noise when in COOL mode without inspecting the unit. There are various reasons as to why the unit is vibrating. The fan can be thrown off balance by accumulated dirt or grease on one or more of the blades. When unbalanced, the fan causes a vibrating or shaking motion similar to that caused by an unbalanced laundry load on a spin cycle. Blades may also become warped or bent, which also upsets their balance. Both the inside and outside units of an air conditioner vibrate when they are turned on. Over time, this vibration can cause the screws to become loose. This issue is simple to fix, and all you need to do is tighten the screws with a screwdriver. Since the unit is sitting in the frame of your window, vibrations, and noises can occur if it's not mounted properly, so you may want to check to ensure that the air conditioner is firmly & securely installed in your window...^IFV

I purchased this air conditioner and installed it and the AC unit turns on but the fan does not work? Any suggestions? Not sure if it’s defective or I’m doing something wrong. Please advise!

Asked by: Anthony D
We regret to read that while your LG 12,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1217ERSM turns on, the fan does not work, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, without any detail about what you doing, we cannot determine if you are doing something wrong or if the unit may require repair. Asked by: RPSC2020
The power cord for the LG 12,000 BTU Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1217ERSM and for any of our air conditioners will always exit the cabinet from the lower side corner on the same side that the control panel is on (lower right side for this unit). I was just wondering if my unit would warm a room on a cool nite outside? And also can you briefly explain what dry air control is for? Thank you

Asked by: Pat7428
Your LG 12,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1217ERSM does not have any heating capacity, it only cools. Regrettably, we are not sure of your inquiry about 'Dry Air Control" unless you are inquiring about what Dry Air Flow is? The Dry Air Flow of 265 listed for the product in CFM (cubic feet per minute) is the velocity at which air flows out of the air conditioner...^IFV

I'm looking for a 12,000 BTU air conditioner with no styrofoam inside. Is this such a model?

Asked by: GussieDog
The styrofoam is installed to prevent sweating in the interior of the air conditioner and also as a means for light support for interior components reducing the weight of the LG 12,000 BTU Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1217ERSM. Regrettably, we do not have any Air Conditioners with that BTU rating or others that do not feature styrofoam in them...^IFV

My LW1217ERSM A/C was just installed. When I look into the machine through the top vents, I see a part (a tube?) that looks like it's covered in cellophane. What is this? And is the cellophane still supposed to be there?
