Inverter Technology

Efficient Energy Saving

LG window air conditioners with DUAL Inverter Compressor™ are up to 25% more energy savings¹ than the ENERGY STAR® certification requirement. Enjoy LG's innovative inverter technology that's both powerful and quiet.

Energy Guide Label²

Estimated yearly energy cost is $81³. Your exact costs will depend on use, local utility rates and the type and source of your energy.

Energy Saving Value

The DUAL Inverter 18K model is able to save approximately $67 per year³ compared to a non-Inverter 18K BTU model.

1. Inverter Technology is a key attribute of LG’s new room air conditioners. It is used in conjunction with a variable-speed compressor and adjusts the compressor motor speed to regulate temperature. This is more energy efficient than non-Inverter Technology room air conditioners, which turns the compressor either on or off to regulate temperature. In Department of Energy approved testing, LG’s Inverter room air conditioner model (LW1817IVSM) showed a 25% Combined Energy Efficiency Ratio (CEER) positive difference when compared with the ENERGY STAR® minimum CEER requirement.
2. The Energy Guide label estimates how much energy the appliance uses, compares energy use of similar products, and lists approximate annual operating costs.
3. The estimated annual energy cost is based on a national average electricity cost of 13 cents per kWh and seasonal use of 8 hours a day over a 3-month period. Your exact costs will depend on local utility rates and the type and source of your energy.

Maximum Cooling

LG DUAL Inverter window air conditioners provide exceptional cooling power that will keep you and your family cool, comfortable, and in control.

Optimal Low Noise Performance

LG window air conditioners operate at sound levels as low as 44dB*, thanks to LG’s unique BLDC Motor and DUAL Inverter Compressor™, eliminating unnecessary noise for smooth operation that you'll barely notice.

*When in sleep mode.

Control Your Cool from Anywhere

The SmartThinQ™ app technology lets you control your LG air conditioner from anywhere. You can start or stop cooling, change the mode, or set the temperature while on the go. It also works with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa so you can change settings with simple voice commands.

What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super cool I have converted two car garage into full time woodworking shop. A/C installation instructions were good, and it cools the shop very quickly in hot weather.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet & Cool! This window unit AC is in a 2nd floor, finished attic master bedroom & bath. Insulation isn't the best and there is definitely a heat load on hot summer days. The central HVAC won't cool this upstairs area and needs to be supplemented. This LG is very quiet for a window unit and is cooling the area nicely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whisper Quiet Right out of the box, I knew that I would like this air conditioner. It is streamlined and modern looking. When it was first turned on, I didn't think it was working. That's how quiet it is. It cools my whole first floor easily. I do agree with another reviewer about the rear fins not being protected. I am keeping this unit in my window year round and it will be exposed to weather and foot traffic. So that issued should be addressed somehow.

Will this unit fit inside a 26.5 inch wide window opening if used without side fillers?

Asked by: daveocoolguy
The LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM has a width of 26" without the front grille so it will fit into an opening of 26 1/2", but you definitely cannot use the left and right curtain panels, so you will need to find some way of closing the openings on either side of the air conditioner after installation. You also need to take into consideration that you only have a 1/4" of room on either side of the air conditioner to work with when installing it which will not be enough space to fit your hands through to hold the unit securely while installing it. The unit weighs 110 lbs and that might be a challenge if you cannot get your hands around the unit to hold is securely to install it...^IFV

I'm really interested in this unit....Can it be installed through the wall? I want to replace and existing unit that measures 26x18 approximately.

Asked by: zvocio
Your interest in the LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM is greatly appreciated. This air conditioner requires a standard single-hung or double- hung window for proper installation. It is designed for installation in standard single-hung or double-hung windows with actual opening widths from 29" to 41". The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 19" from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. The outside of the cabinet must extend outward for at least 12" and there should be no obstacles, such as a fence or wall, within 20" from the back of the cabinet because it will prevent heat radiation of the condenser. Restriction of outside air will greatly reduce the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner. All side louvers of the cabinet must remain exposed to the outside of the structure and other types of non-window installations, including using wall sleeves, or holes in walls are not recommended...^IFV

Why is It that when my AC is on energy saver it only shuts completely down if the temperature is set above 75. At 75 degrees on energy saver the unit continues to run never shuting off.

Asked by: Darlene hol
Hello, Energy Saver mode is the same as Cool mode except in this mode, the compressor and fan turn off when the set temperature is achieved. Then, approximately every 3 minutes the fan turns on to allow the unit sensor to accurately determine if more cooling is needed. Whether the unit keeps running will depend on many factor suck as desired temp, room temp, outside temp, units installation and rooms insulation. ^AC

Why doesn't the LW1817IVSM come with a protective grille on the back of the unit. All of the aluminum fins are exposed? Was it just to save money? Why doesn't your tech support know what I am talking about? looks like a part is missing

Asked by: ScubaRay
Hi ScubaRay. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the design of the LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM. None of our Window Air Conditioners feature a protective grille on the back and all the fins are exposed. Thank you for your observation. We will be sure to pass that on to our engineering team...^IFV
