DUAL Inverter Compressor™

LG air conditioners with Dual Inverter Compressor™ eliminate unnecessary noise and provide cool temperatures with up to 25% energy savings. Experience the powerful yet quiet performance of LG’s ultra-efficient, revolutionary inverter technology.

Maximum Cooling for Maximum Comfort

LG DUAL Inverter Window air conditioners provide exceptional cooling power that will keep you and your family cool, comfortable and in control.

The Coolest Energy Savings Around

Unlike typical air conditioners that turn on and off to adjust temperatures, the DUAL Inverter Compressor™ constantly adjusts its speed to maintain desired temperature levels. That means less fluctuation and greater energy savings of up to 25%.

LG’s Inverter room air conditioners produce substantially more energy savings when compared with non-Inverter room air conditioners. Inverter technology is used in conjunction with a variable-speed compressor. It adjusts compressor motor speed to regulate temperature more effectively than non-Inverter room air conditioners, which turn the compressor either on or off. Testing has shown that LG’s Inverter room air conditioner model (LW1817IVSM) saved 25% more than non-Inverter room air conditioner model. This was measured in the following manner. The Department of Energy (DOE) test procedure for room air conditioners does not measure Inverter technology and thus does not reflect energy savings as between Inverter and non-Inverter Technologies. AHRI Standard 210/240 (2008) (2008 Standard for Performance Rating of Unitary Air-Conditioning & Air-Source Heat Pump Equipment) does measure Inverter Technology (see §, Tests For A Unit Having A Variable-speed Compressor) under a variety of conditions. Testing was thus conducted using AHRI 210/240 (2008) § and Energy Star Directive No. 2011-04 (verification testing for certification bodies), as well as the criteria of the Energy Star 2018 Emerging Technology Award Requirements; Room Air Conditioners with Efficient Variable Output (EVO), which has been awarded to LG. In the meantime, LG is working with DOE on developing a DOE test procedure that will directly address Inverter Technology for room air conditioners. Testing was conducted at Intertek, a third-party laboratory.

Quiet Operation

LG air conditioners operate at low sound levels of just 44dB, thanks to LG's unique BLDC Motor and DUAL Inverter Compressor™, which eliminate unnecessary noise and allow for smooth operation that you’ll barely notice.

Total Control From Your Phone

Total Control From Your Phone

Access your air conditioner anytime, anywhere on any wi-fi enabled device, thanks to LG's exclusive SmartThinQ® app. Turn your air conditioner on or off or change the temperature right from your smartphone. It even works with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant, so you can control your air conditioner with the sound of your voice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, and looks so much better. This unit is so quiet I was able to install it where we really needed it. Due to the excessive noise of two prior window units it interfered with conversions and hearing the television. The face design is great improvement too. Read the instructions, manufacture recommendations on keeping outside of unit from direct sun exposure. I’m using an insulated panel board. Very satisfied so far.

I'm really interested in this unit....Can it be installed through the wall? I want to replace and existing unit that measures 26x18 approximately.

Your interest in the LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM is greatly appreciated. This air conditioner requires a standard single-hung or double- hung window for proper installation. It is designed for installation in standard single-hung or double-hung windows with actual opening widths from 29" to 41". The top and bottom window sashes must open sufficiently to allow a clear vertical opening of 19" from the bottom of the upper sash to the inside sill. The outside of the cabinet must extend outward for at least 12" and there should be no obstacles, such as a fence or wall, within 20" from the back of the cabinet because it will prevent heat radiation of the condenser. Restriction of outside air will greatly reduce the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner. All side louvers of the cabinet must remain exposed to the outside of the structure and other types of non-window installations, including using wall sleeves, or holes in walls are not recommended...^IFV

Why is It that when my AC is on energy saver it only shuts completely down if the temperature is set above 75. At 75 degrees on energy saver the unit continues to run never shuting off.

Asked by: Darlene hol
Hello, Energy Saver mode is the same as Cool mode except in this mode, the compressor and fan turn off when the set temperature is achieved. Then, approximately every 3 minutes the fan turns on to allow the unit sensor to accurately determine if more cooling is needed. Whether the unit keeps running will depend on many factor suck as desired temp, room temp, outside temp, units installation and rooms insulation. ^AC

Why doesn't the LW1817IVSM come with a protective grille on the back of the unit. All of the aluminum fins are exposed? Was it just to save money? Why doesn't your tech support know what I am talking about? looks like a part is missing

Asked by: ScubaRay
Hi ScubaRay. We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the design of the LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM. None of our Window Air Conditioners feature a protective grille on the back and all the fins are exposed. Thank you for your observation. We will be sure to pass that on to our engineering team...^IFV
