What people are saying
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blown Away! This air conditioner is top of the line. Very well built. Very quiet and extremely cold air. Easy to install and I love the peace of mind I have knowing it's an LG.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Disappointing My husband and I bought this unit two years ago and have been having problems since then. At first we thought it was an electrical problem in our home and got an electrician he said everything was fine. Then during extreme hot weather the ac shuts down and displays a CH34 code, we have added an awning to it but still no luck. Now I am stuck in a 114 degree weather with my A/C shutting off at least 20 times throughout the day!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works great when it works I've come to learn that since 2010, LG has been installing a Safety Relay that shuts the unit down when it is overheating. The problem is that that setting is so low that when it's hot outside, it shuts down 20 times a day. They said to put shade over it, not on;ly have I done that, it also shuts down in the morning hours when the sun is on the opposite side of the house. I just installed this yesterday to replace one that was having the same issues that was 2 years old. I even have a fan blowing on the unit to help cool it down and circulate air. Doesn't seem to make sense to cool the air around the unit that is supposed to be doing the cooling.... After researching the web, appears that it is a very common problem. I'm looking to find a way to bypass that relay switch. I'm just really disappointed and it's really how here in Phoenix. I am a big LG fan, but this is frustrating.

Please recommend a sleeve that will work with this unit. Thanks, JD

Asked by: JohnTD
There isn't a sleeve that can be used with this window air conditioner. The LG 24500 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW2516ER requires a standard single-hung or double-hung window for proper installation. The side louvers must be kept clear of any obstructions and must be left exposed to the outside. Non-window installations, including using sleeves, holes in walls, and other installations are not recommended...^IFV

I know a/c,s use to have r22 then they went to 410. Now I see it has gone to r32. Never heard of it as I did air conditioning for a living till 2013 when I got cancer. How does r32 cool compared to 410 ? Very curious.

Asked by: Ncar24
R410A is actually a mixture of R32 and R125 - the R125 suppressing the R32's flammability. The R32 Refrigerant used in the LG 24500 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW2516ER is a low GWP (Global Warming Potential) HFC refrigerant. It is a single component, zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) gas with a GWP of 550, significantly less than R410A's 1,980. It is classified as A2, or mildly flammable, under ASHRAE classifications. R32 is also more energy efficient than R410A...^IFV

What does CH 34 mean

Asked by: Debbiehenry
This code displays when the safety relay causes the unit to power down due to abnormal pressure in the sealed system. This is designed to protect the unit from overheating. Please click the following link for more information: http://lge.to/8rfE8u

I bought two of these units, and one the compressor stays on even when the power is turned off (we have to unplug the power chord to turn off the compressor), the other one the compressor quit working and throws ch34 at night with no compressor working.

My compresser isn't kicking off. It even stays on when the power button is off. What is causing this?

Asked by: Sonialynn
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. Is it the COMPRESSOR that is not shutting off, or is it the FAN, which is designed to run continuously? If the device continues to run, even when deactivated, then it may require service. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to further troubleshoot this situation.
