Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Cool Been using my LG a/c for about 1 month now and love it! It cools my room down real quick and works as expected. Had some issues connecting to my wi-fi at first but it was a router issue and now can even control my unit from work 10 miles away. "who's been using my LG?"

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Remote Brought A/C 8,000 BTU - Model # LW8017 ERSM last year. Remote stop working. Changed battery. Still can't turn on A/C from across the room. How to fix it?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Vibrates constantly I researched quiet a bit for air conditioners since I was upgrading my old one and I wish I had seen more reviews about this being loud since my old one was very loud and I specifically looked for a quiet one and the reviews said this was. For the price I assumed it would be but it is not, and not due to installation issues either. I have to constantly readjust the filter since that seems to vibrate the most. I only ever have it on F1 or F2 because the F3 setting is way too loud and since this is in my bedroom it wakes me up a lot. Very disappointing for the price.

Your specifications indicate the AC unit will work in a 22" wide window. Since the unit itself is 19.4" wide, that means the closed curtains are just 1.3" each. Is this correct?

Asked by: Jack327
The ENERGY STAR® LG 8,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW8017ERSM has a width of 19.57" and it is designed for installation in standard single-hung or double-hung windows with actual opening withds from 22" to 36". What that means is that the Left and Right Guide Panels that have the curtains on them can be stretched by 8.215" on either side of the air conditioner to cover the gap in a window with a 36" window opening width and that the smallest space between the window frame and the air conditioners cabinet that the left and right frame guides with the curtains can fit into is 1.215" on either side of the air conditioner in a window that has a wwindow opening width or 22"...^IFV

Will it work properly if installed on its side? I have a narrow tall window.

Asked by: Narrowinstall
Installing the LG 8,000 BTU Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW8017ERSM on its side will damage its compressor. It can be turned on its side for shipping and storage, but it should never be run or installed on its side. All air conditioners are also dehumidifiers, and the dehumidification system relies on gravity to take water away from the unit and drain it from the bottom of the air conditioner's case. If an air conditioner is positioned on its side, this water will drain down into the case, potentially damaging the unit and leaking water back into the home. The other reason is that the compressor of an air conditioner is a bit like a small electric motor in that it has gears and turning parts that require lubrication. The lubrication in the air conditioner compressor comes in the form of oil, typically located in the compressor case itself. When an air conditioner is turned on its side, this oil settles on the bottom half of the compressor and potentially deprives part of the compressor of oil, which can lead to damage and, eventually, compressor burnout. If an air conditioner has been stored on its side, or if it has been shipped that way, take care to ensure it has been turned horizontally for a period of at least 24 hours prior to running the unit. This allows sufficient time for any oils and lubricants to resettle back to their proper levels, providing protection for internal gears and moving parts...^IFV

I live on the 20th floor of my building and bought this unit mainly because it had the removable/slide out chasis - it's a lot easier to install the housing and then slide in the unit, especially 200' above the ground. But it's not a removable chasis.
