    Best thing in optical since optical came out
    The storage capacity is amazing and perfect for me and my movie and music collections. It was awful having to spend and spend on hundreds of CD's and even DVD-DL's for this. Not only is the storage capacity fantastic, this thing works beautifully out-of-the-box on Linux. This is another main important feature for me since I will not ever use Microsoft's OS's ever again. It's fast, quiet, and even the eject button is much nicer and easier to hit than any other similar device on the ... read more market. This thing simply made life easier for me and the price was extremely nice too since I live on a pittance of a disability check and can't afford these things just any ol' time I want one - cheap or not!

    Best product for the price
    It was a direct plugin and replaced and dvd drive. The drive works without a flaw. The price was what attracted me and the brand is one I trust. Each of the products that I own that are LG work great and I would not hesitate to purchase some of their products. Blue Ray is the way to store a great many photos that can be displayed anywhere.     Top Notch Super Blu Ray Writer!
    I bought this drive from Newegg about 6 weeks ago. It has performed superbly! It writes regular 4X 25GB BD-R discs at 8X! No hiccups, no problems or issues. Be sure to use BRAND NAME discs though. I highly recommend this drive to any who are considering purchasing a Blu Ray writer. The front faceplate has a glossy black frame surrounding the drive tray and control panel. Very nice brushed anodized black aluminum on the drive tray and control panel plus the eject/close button is concealed ... read more under the brushed aluminum which has a slight rise or bump. Nice clean look, very attractive.

    Works great with a Mac
    As a photographer, I can capture quite a lot image files. Burning off to DVD, I have well over 500 DVD archives. Blu-ray was the next step, but I was a bit nervous due to reviews stating they had issues on a Mac platform (like it didn't work). I decided to give this LG writer a try-out. No issues at all (using Toast). Over 23GB of data written in about 7 minutes, verifying took just about 15 minutes...faster than burning a DVD on my MacBook Pro super drive (yet 6 times the data!). So, yep! I'm a happy camper!

    Amazing Product
    This product is great to do anything with blue-ray and more! I only had one problem that took me 30 minutes to know what was going on. I know computers and have worked with them for a long time. Its wasnt big for me, but other I can see having problems. When I opened it and connected it to the computer and tried to installed the driverrs and that, that came on the cd, I ran into a problem. The cd said does not support the device. I had togo to the LG website and download a fireware update for ... read more the device! and then i was able to instal;l the driver. I should not have to do that!! It was a poor part on LG for that. Othere then that minor problem which i had no problem doing. I was thingking of the the other people that would run into this problem. Its a fantastic product and would get another one.

    Internal 16X Blu-Ray DVD Writter
    LG has once AGAIN...won my loyalty..! bought this drive for convenience, speed, and playing my Blu-Ray Movies...well LG delivered both on this Product. Was super fast and extremely easy install. Reads , Writes, and plays every format I've tried. ! Fabulous Job LG...Once again were having a Great Relationship..! Jason

    Good for ripping
    Have used this to backup my bought Blu-ray disc and CDs. With MakeMKV I can rip my Blu-ray discs in about 20 minutes and with a 33 GB output file. The drive is very quiet in operation and seems to work well. I've not actually burned any discs with it yet, but will start backing up my photos at some point, and it's good to know that the M discs should last longer than standard Blu-rays.

    Mac Compatible external Blu-Ray, M-DISC, 3D compat
    I bought this unit so that I could back up data using a Windows PC as it did not advertise macOS compatability. I decided to try it out with my MacBook Pro and it recognised the drive flawlessly. There is no need for any 3rd party software - it works out of the box (I ran it on a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro i5 2.5GHz, 16GB, macOS 10.12.6). You will need to get some playback software from the net, but there are plenty of options out there now. I have since tried it on my Mac Mini and have had no issues ... read more whatsoever. The read and write speeds quoted are accurate and I normally get about +5% more than these actual speeds. Complaints from other reviews about excessive noise have not presented themselves yet. This is a visually slick looking, quiet, quality burner which does what it says on the packet.

    Excellent external optical drive
    Just bought and received the LG Electronics Blu-Ray DVD Writer (BE16NU50) today. Tested it with an ASUS Q534UX notebook with Windows 10 after installing the included CyberLink Media Suite 10 for Blu-Ray OEM software. Played a Blu-Ray movie, CD, and DVD without any problems. Am very satisfied with the purchase. Was disappointed with the software User Manual provided for the CyberLink software. Be was able to navigate around the software items to find what was needed to complete the testing of the ... read more drive. One of the software applications tested my notebook to ensure its compatability with the external drive.

    Lacks ability to work with VGA projector
    I bought to connect with my VGA projector, my computer has both a HDMI and VGA output. I have the VGA output connected to my projector and the HDMI output connected to a computer monitor. The computer can easily switch to ether or both outputs. The LG Blue Ray disk drive does wonderfully well when run with the monitor, however, when I attempt to use the projector I get and error stating that it cannot play because it is not connected to an HDMI port and does have the rights to show through a VGA ... read more output. I was going to return it but decided that it was a good drive and it may be a CyberLink software problem, Nothing wrong with the drive. I would advise my friends to buy it if the have a HDMI projector because it is does work well and is economical.

    Great Blu-Ray Drive
    I Bought this drive with another LG Drive after the two that were purchased for the computer, would not install and gave nothing but problems. i wont give names i am not here to complain about others. I am here to say that this drive and the other LG drive i bought installed easy. i did nothing more than plug them in and turn the computer on. They worked on the first try. I know that might seem trivial or obvious, but think about how many things don't work on the first try, always have a problem ... read more or just plain don't work. Karma Exists and i give credit where it is due, whether it is good or bad. LG i own a lot of your products. (TV's, Cell Phones, Computer Products and more). You have never done me wrong. Thank you.

    Great buy if you know what you are doing
    This unit is excellent. It does all of the important things an optical drive should. Sure it doesn't do Light-scribe, but really who can say those labels are nothing more than meh. Dual layer, three D blu-ray and M-disc for this price? For me the only minor gripe is how noisy it is when I boot up my system and when a disk loads. Sure it is OEM and comes with nothing, but it does play cds and dvds out of the box. For blu-ray just do a search for software on the net and you will be golden.     Really good performance
    I bought this from an ebay seller and it was shipped promptly and was undamaged. But when installing it in my pc I noticed a small piece of plastic on the floor. Then I realized it was part of the sata connection. I don't know if it was a manufacturing defect or my clumsy attempt to connect the cable. I have super glued back on and waiting a day to see if it took. I will let you know.

    Best External Drive Out There!
    I love this Drive especially the software that comes with it makes it easy to copy homemade movies to other DVDs. Good price, quality, and most of all it's an LG product. I may not have an HD Screen but I do plan to get one in the future and I will be future proof since it will play Blu-Ray.

    Like the blu-ray a lot, but...
    I was surprised when the software that came with it didn't integrate fully with Windows 7. I like to make a copy of my movies and save them in my network hard drive for viewing throughout the house. When I tried to use the player, it was not listed in the source for my software. I eventually got it to work, but it wasn't very intuitive.

    Top of the Line
    You can't beat this device. It works perfectly right out of the box, easy to hook up, and operates like a charm. I was truly impressed with the quality and the performance. While it seems most devices advertise themselves as the best, this one actually is. LG has really impressed me and so much so that I want to look at LG for replacements of both my other devices and appliances. Quality, perfect set of features, and tastefully stylish. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
