Not advertised well. No mention at all of third party software that needs to be PURCHASED separately in order to play DVDs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no helpful support for this product I bought this because the best buy person sold me a laptop with no cd drive and said this would work. the software that came with it was for some multimedia creator program and i am not even sure where the drivers for this thing is ao if i need an update. the laptop wants to look for another App to use this and these all have prices. Not impressed with LG or Best Buy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dead on arrival. I purchased this drive because my new computer did not have one built in. This drive failed to function with either a Windows 10 or a Windows 11 computer. My local repair facility and I swapped out the connection cable supplied with the unit with another cable but that failed to fix the problem.

can you download cd and download to a USB Flash drive

You can use this Slim Portable DVD Writer DVD Disc Playback & DVD M-DISC™ Support (SP80NB80) to download data from a CD to your computer, then you can just transfer that data to a flash drive, if that is what you mean. What cable do in need to play on a TV ?     I have a micro usb with USB cable that it came with and it works great on my computer.    However, my TV does not have USB port.    It does have HDMI but I'm not sure where the power would come from.

The LG Slim Portable DVD Writer DVD Disc Playback & DVD M-DISC™ Support, Model # SP80NB80 only connects via USB, and USB ports supply the power to the drive. If you do not have USB ports on your TV then you cannot use this drive with your TV...^Ivan

Can this dvd writer burn dvds that can play on dvd players? Does it work with formatting programs such as dvdstyler?
