Explore Seamless Viewing with High Frame Rates

Revolutionize your home cinema. Find out how 4K high frame rate (HFR) TVs deliver smoother images in greater detail.

Gadget gurus everywhere have heard of high frame rate (HFR), and longed for the day when this cinematic technology would be available to everyone—and not just tucked inside exclusive screening rooms. Well, today is that day. However, for those of us who don't keep our fingers on the pulse of technology, or who do but still aren't sure why you'd want a TV with a 4K HFR, we've created a primer to help you understand the ins and outs of this incredible, revolutionary technology. So, let's get started.

Defining HFR
The rate at which most films, including even the biggest Hollywood blockbusters, are shot and projected is 25 frames per second (fps). Technically speaking, HFR is anything above 25 fps. And while 25 fps is still the standard, those in the film industry and many people who film sports for broadcast networks think that shooting images at a higher frame rate should become the standard. Not only does it provide a richer visual experience, but it gives content a more "cinematic" quality. And although expert opinions about how many frames per second the human eye can detect vary wildly – from 60 to 1,000 – it's clear that we're capable of seeing images at a much faster rate than 25 frames per second.

Enter the 4K HFR TV
Revolutionizing television as we know it, 4K HFR TVs deliver images in greater clarity, impeccable detail, and with less motion blur. So, we integrated that new technology into state-of-the-art OLED TVs* to enhance the quality of fast moving content (think sports, action movies, games, etc.), creating highly fluid images, and eliminating the motion blur and judder found on many conventional TVs. Thanks to the OLED-exclusive α9 (Alpha 9) Intelligent Processor, these TVs are able to play content at up to 120 frames per second while maintaining smoothness even during fast motion*.

HFR Meets Innovative OLED Technology
Because LG’s OLED TVs are on the cutting edge, your elevated viewing experience doesn’t stop with HFR. The α9 processor also makes the most of OLED’s self-illuminating pixels, providing true-to-life images with rich colors, superior sharpness and enhanced depth. You can also expect comprehensive support of major 4K high dynamic range formats including premium Dolby Vision™*, as well as HDR10 and HLG. And to complete the home cinema experience, the included sound bar delivers immersive, detailed Dolby Atmos* audio that puts you into the midst of every moment.
