Rated 5 out of 5 by from water filter is there anyway to completely disconnect the water filter. I already have good water, and don't need a filter. I seldom use ice, or the water dispenser as I prefer room temp water, and just don't need a filter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this refrigerator. I bought this refrigerator several years ago I have had no problems getting replacement water filters till now. I need to have my filter 5231JA2002A-S replaced and am not able to find it any where. I am using the numbers that are in the owners manual that came with product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water Filter Does NOT fit I bought LG brand filters to replace in my newer refrigerator; however, they do not work! I’ve read numerous reviews on ways to alter them to make them fit, but I shouldn’t have to do that! These filters are not cheap! I’ve already ruined one trying to make it work. LG needs to address this issue!

Has LG fixed the issues with their filters? It's time to replace ours but don't want to buy something defective, or that we have to retrofit ourselves after paying full price.

Can you tell me, in microns, what size particle this unit will filter?

Asked by: Romuald
Unlike air filters for vacuum cleaners and air purifiers that have filters that trap 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, water filters are classified according to the reduction of substances in the water to a concentration less than or equal to the permissible limit for water leaving the system as specified in NSF/ ANSI Standards of substances in water. The LG LT1000P® - 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter is system tested and certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 42, Standard 53, and Standard 401 for the reduction of substances like Chlorine taste and odor which has an NSF Specified Challenge Concentration of 2.0 μg/L± 10% or Nominal Particulate Class I 2 0.5 to < 1.0 μm that have an NSF Specified Challenge Concentration of At least 10,000 particles/mL...^Ivan

I have an LG refigerator model LFXS2793D. I get a powdery residue periodically on my the wall and tray of the water dispenser. I change the filter every 6 months and do not have hard water. I am wondering what this powder is and how to eliminate it.

Asked by: Rscore
I also have this problem but thought it was just my hard water. I clean the drip tray daily.

Does this filter out floride

Asked by: MaRgi moewd
The LG LT1000P® - 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter does not remove contaminants such as fluoride, barium, arsenic, and nitrate because, like most built-in refrigerator water filters that are designed to use activated carbon filters, the activated carbon filters cannot remove those contaminants. Fluorine is an element, which occurs naturally, and it can be found in most soil types. When fluorine is combined with another element, it becomes fluoride – a molecule. If water is not properly treated, there is a high likelihood that large amounts of fluoride will be present. The most common way to reduce or remove fluoride from your drinking water is to install an inline reverse osmosis water filter system, also known as an RO system. Reverse osmosis filters will eliminate the fluoride in your water effectively...^Ivan

What is the shelf life of these replacement filters? I recently purchased 3 genuine LG LT1000P replacement filters online (ADQ360061)…and noticed they have a date stamp of 2019.09.02 on them. I assume that means that the filters are already 2+ years.

Asked by: Jagrpitt68
The date that you are referring to on the LG LT1000P® - 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter is the date of manufacture. Luckily, you don't have to worry about shelf life when it comes to refrigerator water filters. They have an unlimited shelf life as long as they're kept dry. Water filters are essentially a plastic cartridge that’s filled with activated carbon. This material removes unwanted particles from your water and doesn’t have an expiration date until it gets wet. Therefore, it only makes sense to buy your water filters in bulk since you’ll pay less money for multiple filters...^Ivan

Does the LG refrigerator water filter filter out the compound PFAS?

Asked by: SHK333
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS, GenX, and many other chemicals and both chemicals are very persistent in the environment and in the human body – meaning they don't break down and they can accumulate over time. The LG LT1000P® - 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter uses activated carbon as a filtration medium and it works through a process called adsorption, which causes contaminants to stick to the filtration media. Activated carbon is honeycombed with nooks and crannies, so it provides a large surface area for adsorption. Activated carbon treatment is the most studied treatment for PFAS removal. GAC has been shown to effectively remove PFAS from drinking water when it is used in a flow through filter mode after particulates have already been removed. Water filtration units that use granular activated carbon (GAC, also called charcoal filters) or reverse osmosis (RO) can both be effective in removing the PFAS compounds that commercial labs typically analyze. The EPA has found ways to remove PFAS from drinking water. These effective technologies include activated carbon treatment, ion exchange resins, and high-pressure membranes, like nanofiltration or reverse osmosis...^Ivan

Is there anything we can do to fix the filtration system in this refrigerator. We have had it nearly a year. Have changed the filters numerous times and had a service call, but the water and ice still tastes horrible. LG model# LFXS26596S

Asked by: MR353
One of the most common reasons refrigerator ice tastes bad is a dirty water filter. If it's been a while since the filter has been replaced, it can't do its job as it should, causing the water that makes your ice cubes to taste different. However, if you have changed your filters numerous times and had a service call to have the LG 26 cu. ft. Smart Wi-Fi Enabled InstaView™ Door-in-Door® Refrigerator, Model # LFXS26596S inspected and still have that issue, it may be due to your water supply. Sulfur, algae, minerals, salt, etc. in the water supply can cause bad tasting water which results in bad tasting ice. Sometimes the bad taste may be due to issues with the water supply, plumbing, or mold or bacteria...^Ivan
