What people are saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from B L E C H !!! Our water and ice have tasted horrible since we purchased our new fridge many months ago. I finally decided to try using a new filter but now I see all of these horrible reviews about the filters not fitting correctly and I’m afraid to even purchase one. With all of these bad reviews with the exact same problem, why aren’t you doing something about it???

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not the quality I expected We bought this refrigerator at the end of February. Since it was installed in early March, we’ve had it serviced through warranty 3 separate times (by the way, going through the warranty process IS NOT EASY!) We’re very unhappy...I have never in my life had to have a new refrigerator serviced.

What are the NSF certifications for this product? The filter purchased from Amazon only lists NSF 42 and 53 on its website, but the box lists 42, 53, and 401.

Asked by: lmt1
The LG 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter (Part # ADQ74793501), Model # LT1000P (NSF System Trade Name Code: MDJ64844601) is tested and certified by NSF International against NSF/ANSI Standard 42, Standard 53 and Standard 401 for the reduction of substances listed under those standards. You may have seen media reports in recent years about the presence of emerging or incidental contaminants in drinking water. In fact, 82 percent of consumers report that they are concerned about the negative effects these emerging contaminants may have on their health although at trace levels they are not a public health issue. Contaminants of most concern include pesticides and herbicides followed by prescription drugs and detergents. Emerging contaminants are a new category of water quality concerns for which evidence of health effects has not yet been established due in part to the trace levels at which these compounds are currently being detected. For this reason, it was decided that a separate testing standard should be developed for product testing purposes. NSF/ANSI 401: Emerging Contaminants/Incidental Compounds is an American national standard that verifies the ability of a water treatment device to reduce up to 15 of the emerging contaminants shown below. This list includes some prescription/OTC drugs, new types of herbicides and pesticides and chemicals used as flame retardants and detergents that have been found at trace levels in drinking water...^IFV

Why is there a prop 65 warning on this filter?

Asked by: Vanessa1912
Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By requiring that this information be provided, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals. Prop 65 affects all consumer products sold or distributed in California, including textiles, footwear, and many more. Penalties for failure to warn are stiff often requiring companies to pay thousands of dollars and one of the exceptions to the rule is that no warning is required if a business can show that the anticipated exposure level falls at or below the "safe harbor" level. The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) has established safe harbor levels for many of the listed chemicals. Rather than risk these stiff penalties, even if a product falls at or below the "safe harbor level" the warning is placed on the product in the event that it ends up being sold or distributed in California. Examples of such chemicals include cadmium, mercury, and lead. Certain listed chemicals like lead are widely distributed throughout the environment in air, soil, water, and rocks. As a result, these types of chemicals are often naturally found in commonly eaten foods, even though these chemicals are not intentionally added. All foods naturally contain some amount of heavy metals from the earth. Prop 65 warnings are seen throughout California in a wide range of settings -- in restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, schools, hospitals, and on a wide variety of consumer products. In addition, some internet and mail-order retailers have chosen to provide Prop 65 warnings on their websites or in catalogs for all consumers. Proposition 65 is meant to notify individuals in California of potential exposures to Prop 65-listed chemicals. Prop 65 is a right-to-know law; it does not ban the sale of any products that contain these chemicals...^IFV
