A NEW WORLD created by LG ThinQ – the epilogue of LG ThinQ Global Campaign
Have you ever heard about LG ThinQ?
LG ThinQ is a brand for products and services incorporating LG’s advanced AI technologies. LG recently began the global launching campaign for LG ThinQ all over the globe. This is the vivid description of the story.
One of the major talking points in 2018 would be ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI)’. Consumer electronics companies around the world are now competing to dominate this new marketplace. While competitors are talking about the same AI functions with the same messages, LG refused to become ‘one-of-them’ and started from the consumers’ voice. The thing LG found was consumers’ perception that AI still exists just for Early Adopters, not for the normal majority.
That is the reason why LG focused to help consumers remove the psychological distance and understand AI. Also since the LG ThinQ is a comprehensive brand including TV, mobile, refrigerator, washing machine, cleaner, the ultimate goal of the LG ThinQ campaign is not appealing each device’s function, but delivering the consumer value of the brand itself.
Then, why did LG make LG ThinQ?
Why did LG make the Artificial Intelligence that can communicate with people, understand problems and suggest the solution?
LG found the answers from the LG’s philosophy “Innovation for a Better Life”. Since LG ThinQ enables consumers to experience beyond limitation, consumers can become wiser and freer to live a better life.
Because that’s how life should be.
Started from this lesson, LG developed two different concepts. The first one is for delivering the corporate value of LG with lyrical melody and storytelling. The second one is for helping consumers understand what LG ThinQ is in a bright and fun way. Although these two directions might seem to be incompatible with each other, LG finally decided to develop both ways.
More than hundreds of people worked hard for the campaign. Thanks for the efforts, LG successfully launched this campaign even in a limited time of six days of filming, with more than 60 models appeared in the videos.
Please enjoy the final videos.
Think Wise. Be Free,
You can meet LG thinQ through the television all over the world, starting from the USA soon. Please enjoy these films. LG hopes you to think wise, be free, and live a better life.

LG customer commands for the Google Assistant have been increased in the LG G7 ThinQ so users can get even more stuff done with their voice alone.Super Bright Display Outshines the Competition
The first thing customers will notice about the LG G7 ThinQ will likely be the new 6.1-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) display sporting a 19.5:9 FullVision screen ratio and a bottom bezel which is almost 50 percent slimmer than on the LG G6. Powered by LG’s new LCD technology, Super Bright Display, the LG G7 ThinQ can be viewed easily even under direct sunlight with brightness up to an industry-leading 1,000 nit, displaying 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.
And depending on the type of content, the display can be set to six different viewing modes: Auto, Eco, Cinema, Sports, Game and Expert. In Auto mode, the phone automatically analyzes the content of games or photos and optimizes the display and power consumption. The user can fine tune the image even further by adjusting the screen temperature and RGB levels individually.
The smartphone’s New Second Screen gives users flexible options when it comes to setting up the display to fit their tastes and style. The display can be fully expanded for a bezel-less look or it can be set to a more traditional style where the notification bar is completely blacked out. Users can even change the notification bar to another color for a more personal effect.Unmatched Audio Experience in a Smartphone
Continuing LG’s commitment to deliver unrivaled audio experience on its smartphones, the LG G7 ThinQ offers premium audio innovations that remains unmatched in the industry. Available for the first time in the LG G7 ThinQ , Boombox Speaker utilizes the internal space of the LG G7 ThinQ as a resonance chamber to deliver double the bass of conventional smartphones for powerful “boombox” sound without the need for external speakers. When placed on a solid surface or box, the smartphone utilizes its resonance chamber as a woofer to amplify the bass effect even more.
The LG G7 ThinQ is also the first smartphone to offer DTS:X to deliver virtual 3D sound for all content, up to 7.1 channel audio with earphones. Carrying on the heritage of LG’s focus on great smartphone sound, the LG G7 ThinQ is equipped with a Hi-Fi Quad DAC for incredibly rich sound especially when paired with high-impedance earphones.
“The LG G7 ThinQ is strongly focused on the fundamentals and its launch marks a new chapter for our company,” said Hwang Jeong-hwan, president of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “Through the combination of personalized and useful AI functionalities with meaningful smartphone features, this is LG’s most convenient smartphone yet.”
The LG G7 ThinQ will roll out in the coming days in South Korea followed by major markets in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Price and purchase details will be announced locally closer to the time of availability.Key Specifications:
“Smart speakers are all the rage and we expected plenty at CES 2018. The show didn’t disappoint and we particularly liked the LG ThinQ Smart Speaker with, for starters, it’s sleek black design.
This is another device with the Google Assistant built-in so you can do all sorts of handy things with you voice. The speaker also sounds great, has touch sensitive controls on top and Bluetooth to boot.”
“Google Assistant again, this time built into LG’s new range of TVs. Up until now, ‘smart TVs’ haven’t really been all that smart, but these are truly deserving of the title. Controlling your TV and your smart home with your voice just makes sense.
Note that Google Assistant will come built-in for US models, whereas in the UK the ThinQ OLED TV range will be compatible with Google Assistant, but the feature won’t come built-in.”
“There were a lot of eye-catching televisions, but none were as impressive as LG’s AI OLED TV with ThinQ. LG’s OLED TVs are among the best in the world and now with deep Google Assistant and Alexa integration, you’ll feel like you’re watching with your best friend inside your living room.”
“This isn’t your typical refrigerator. LG’s new InstaView refrigerator is one of several new appliances in their artificial intelligence-capable ThinQ lines. Not only can you knock on its 29-inch transparent display to see what’s inside, this fridge can now intelligently communicate with other household devices. We love how it suggests recipes and sends the exact settings to your ovens. With the LG InstaView refrigerator, the kitchen gets a whole lot smarter.”
“This is LG’s response to the Google Assistant. It has cool acoustic quality and can deliver as far as functionality is concerned. The device has what it takes leave the Google Home behind it in the dust. This gadget works with the aid of high quality lossless files. Also Meridian Audio technology is present in its context. This gizmo is a special one and it was the star attraction at the CES 2018.”
“LG’s 2018 flagship OLED adds Google Assistant and a high-end processor to make for the best television we’ve seen on the show floor. While the LG W8 OLED doesn’t rewrite the book on its OLED panels, these huge improvements to software and hardware make this year’s W8 a serious contender in the upcoming battle for ‘best TV of 2018’ and most worthy of this award.”
“LG’s take on the smart speaker with Google Assistant inside has audio quality strong enough to rival or perhaps even surpass the Google Home itself. The LG ThinQ works with high-quality lossless files and has Meridian Audio technology built in, which by our measure is the first of its kind and therefore a trailblazer of CES 2018 worthy of this award.”
“LG’s 2017 OLED TV lineup was arguably the best in the world last year, and the company continued its hot streak at CES 2018 by announcing the new LG Signature OLED TV W8. This stunning 77-inch television is less than 3mm thick, and it uses a special zero-gap mounting system to hang flush on any wall. How is it possible to create a TV this thin? The internal components are housed within a connected soundbar so they don’t occupy space behind the screen like they would normally.
The W8 will be among the first TVs to be powered by LG’s new α9 Intelligent Processor, which powers the new LG ThinQ AI solution that doubles as a Google Assistant-enabled smart home hub. It also features the same great 4K OLED panel quality that has made LG a market leader.”
“Refrigerators with built-in displays are becoming more common these days, but you’ve never seen one like the LG InstaView ThinQ fridge. This cutting-edge refrigerator features a gorgeous design and a 29-inch touchscreen display. It runs webOS and can of course display things like the weather, recipes, and more. But LG’s new screen has an even better feature: Knock on the screen twice and it instantly becomes transparent to show you what’s in the fridge behind the door without having to open it.”
Let’s take a look at LG’s Home IoT and Robots. This user-friendly technology learns and adjusts to your needs. Thanks to seamless communication with its products, LG is striving to provide a better and more comfortable life for its users.
“LG ThinQ speaker – This new smart home speaker is powered by Google Assistant, so anything Google Home can do, the LG ThinQ speaker should be able to do too. It’ll be particularly suitable for consumers who have invested themselves into LG’s ThinQ products. Through this speaker and Google Assistant, consumers will be able to control and interact with their other ThinQ products seamlessly. At least, that’s the promise.
LG CLOi – of all the home assistants we’ve seen so far, the “cute” LG CLOi is easily the creepiest one. Let’s face it: at this point, any man-made robot that tries to talk to you, especially if it attempts to engage in anything resembling emotion, is going to be creepy and weird. This is exactly what LG CLOi is. Thankfully, the assistant wannabe, which is promised to interact well with LG’s ThinQ line-up, refused to answer the requests of LG’s marketing chief for most of the presentation. With the potential to inspire a bad horror movie script, and seemingly half-baked software reliability, LG CLOi is currently on course to launch sometime before June, at a yet unknown price.”
“The bad news is LG has no plans to actually release a rollable TV in 2018. The good news is the company does have a new paper-thin OLED that debuted at CES 2018.
The LG W8 is a follow-up to last year’s W7, which was affectionately referred to as the wallpaper TV. Why? Because with a thickness of just 2.57mm and a special zero-gap mount, it basically looks like part of your wall. The W8 picks up where last year’s model left off, offering a similar design with upgraded features including a new processor, support for multiple HDR standards, Google Assistant integration, enhanced voice control, and more. Pricing and availability haven’t yet been announced, but expect it to cost a pretty penny when it’s released later this year.”
“Moving away from home entertainment for a moment — although this product does have a 29-inch display — the new LG InstaView ThinQ fridge might just be the coolest refrigerator on the planet. It’s packed from top to bottom with awesome new tech, but the star of the show is the touchscreen display that runs webOS and supports all sorts of smart features. Knock on the screen twice, however, and it instantly becomes transparent to show you what’s in the fridge behind the door without having to open it.”
“That’s right, a washing machine is one of the coolest things unveiled at CES 2018. What makes this model so special. There are tons of wash features and connected perks to enjoy, but the star of the show is what LG calls the “LG SideKick” pedestal washer. You can see it open in the image above. It’s basically a separate 1 cu. ft. washer that can do its own small load of laundry on its own or while the main compartment handles its own load.”
Proprietary Deep Learning Platform to Power Product Development
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8, 2018 — LG Electronics is developing its proprietary deep learning-based artificial intelligence technology with the rollout of its own AI development tool to all LG business divisions in line with its efforts to speed up the release of new products equipped with the latest technology.
DeepThinQ 1.0 was developed last year with the establishment of LG’s Artificial Intelligence Lab in Korea to accelerate research into AI. The platform enables easy integration of AI into a wider range of products, allowing LG product developers to apply deep-learning technologies to future products. In line with the open strategy of its recently announced AI brand ThinQ, LG products developed with DeepThinQ – from mobile devices to home appliances – will deliver a comprehensive user experience by linking a host of technologies and solutions to its state-of-the-art AI platform.
DeepThinQ 1.0 boasts AI functions such as voice, video and sensor recognition and space and human body detection, developed with data gleaned from usage habits of LG customers over the years. DeepThinQ 1.0 was designed from the ground up with openness and diversification in mind, supporting a variety of operating platforms such as Android, Linux and webOS.
And with LG ThinQ, “live and learn” takes on a whole new meaning. Products developed on the DeepThinQ platform educate themselves using cloud servers to become smarter over time. This learning feature is at the heart of DeepThinQ, allowing LG AI products to understand not only their external environments but also the behavioral patterns of their customers. For example, LG ThinQ air conditioner learns customers’ living patterns over time and cools the room automatically to the temperature preferred by the occupant. In the car, LG’s cabin monitoring technology learns the driver’s facial expressions and gestures and recognizes the moment the driver starts to get drowsy. Eventually, ThinQ will be able to automatically adjust the music, lighting or climate inside the car by learning about the passengers who most often occupy the car.
DeepThinQ is already changing the way certain products targeting the commercial and consumer sectors are designed. LG’s Airport Guide Robots at Korea’s Incheon International Airport employs sophisticated ambient noise to improve voice recognition enabling passengers to be better understood. LG’s robot vacuum cleaner learns the difference between a chair and a dog and navigates accordingly.
“DeepThinQ is the embodiment of our open philosophy – to provide the most powerful AI solutions to our customers via a strategy of open platform, open partnership and open connectivity,” said Dr. I.P. Park, Chief Technology Officer at LG Electronics. “ThinQ will completely change the way consumers use our products because ThinQ products will learn about them to provide intelligent services, not the other way around.”
Already Delivering Category-Leading OLED TV and Impressive SUPER UHD TV, LG Focuses on the Brains Behind the Display
SEOUL, Jan. 3, 2018 — At CES 2018, LG Electronics (LG) will raise the home entertainment experience to another level with the introduction of ThinQ® artificial intelligence (AI) and an advanced image processor in its newest OLED and SUPER UHD TVs. ThinQ allows the implementation of hundreds of voice requests utilizing the company’s own open smart platform as well as third-party AI services.
With AI functionality embedded in their TVs, LG customers can speak directly into the remote control to enjoy all the convenient features of today’s advanced voice assistant technology. LG’s ThinQ TVs also function as smart home hubs, offering access to other smart home products such as robotic vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, air purifiers, smart lights, smart speakers and many other devices that can connect to the TV via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
And with LG’s newest α (Alpha) 9 processor powering the company’s market-leading OLED TVs, viewers will experience further improvements in what many already consider to be the best TV picture quality. LG Nano CellTM SUPER UHD TVs employ Full-Array Local Dimming (FALD) backlighting to provide deeper blacks and enhanced colors, as well as nuanced shadow details for life-like images.Transforming Modern Lifestyle Through Intelligence
LG’s ThinQ offers an enhanced interactive experience in the company’s newest smart TV lineup, including OLED and SUPER UHD TV models by employing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to deliver intelligent voice-activated control and connectivity based on LG’s own deep learning technology, DeepThinQ. With a dramatically streamlined setup process, viewers can easily and quickly connect to gaming consoles and external soundbars. Users can search for information, images or videos featuring specific content by making a verbal request through the TV’s remote control such as “show me all the movies this actor has starred in” or “show me yoga videos”.
LG TVs with ThinQ AI supports services based on Electronic Program Guide (EPG) to deliver information in real time or change to a channel that offers the content requested. Instruct the TV to “search for the soundtrack of this movie” or “turn off the TV when this program is over” without repeating the name of the program or entering a specific time. What’s more, customers in certain countries will be able to utilize the Google Assistant to control smart home devices such as lights or activate third-party services.Picture Quality Close to Perfection
LG’s newest α (Alpha) 9 intelligent processor provides true-to-life images with incredibly rich colors, sharpness and depth for more realism. A core innovative element of the α (Alpha) 9 is the four-step process of noise reduction, which boasts twice as many steps compared to conventional techniques. This algorithm allows for greater finesse in noise reduction, improving the clarity of images affected by distracting artifacts and enabling more effective rendering of smooth gradations.
The processor also improves color performance, thanks to the advanced mapping capabilities make colors look closer than ever to the original content. The improved color correction algorithm allows for more natural colors by expanding the reference color coordinates seven-fold compared to before. The α (Alpha) 9 is designed to support high frame rate (HFR) for producing smoother and clearer motion images at 120 frames per second for better rendering of fast-action content such as sports and action movies. As a result of the new image processor, 2018 LG OLED TVs can display any content at maximum quality for a truly spectacular viewing experience.Maximizing Nano Cell with FALD Backlight and α (Alpha) 7
In 2017, LG made a significant achievement toward its highly ambitious vision for producing the ultimate LCD TV picture through its Nano Cell SUPER UHD TVs. By combining Nano Cell, FALD backlighting and the α (Alpha) 7 processor, LG’s 2018 SUPER UHD TV offers a host of technological advantages including deeper blacks, enhanced image rendering, improved shadow details and accurate color from wide viewing angles.
This year’s SUPER UHD TV with FALD allows for denser backlighting zones throughout the display, contrary to edge-lighting where backlights are positioned on the edges behind the TV panel. LG’s technology improves black levels and picture dimensions by independent control of LED light zones, improving shadow details and reducing light bleeding resulting in enhanced contrast and superb picture quality.Best Possible 4K Cinema HDR Experience
2018 OLED and SUPER UHD TVs from LG feature 4K Cinema HDR, which introduces a truly cinematic experience to the home, regardless of the format. LG’s 2018 OLED and SUPER UHD TVs add support for Advanced HDR by Technicolor, building on a legacy of supporting most major HDR formats, from the superior viewing experience of Dolby VisionTM to HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma). LG’s 2018 OLED and SUPER UHD TVs process HDR images dynamically frame by frame using LG’s proprietary algorithm, Enhanced Dynamic Tone mapping. Both 2018 OLED TVs and SUPER UHD TVs come with Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound for the best audio-visual experience possible.
“LG is continually seeking to innovate in home entertainment and LG ThinQ along with the α (Alpha) 9 processor will deliver a TV viewing experience that is unrivaled in the industry,” said Brian Kwon, president of LG’s Home Entertainment Company. “At LG, our interest is in improving user lifestyles and convenience, which our 2018 TVs amply deliver.”
Visitors to CES can experience LG’s TVs of the future for themselves at booth #11100 in Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
