[LG Laptop] Battery Won’t Charge

  • Troubleshooting

Ensure that the power adapter connections are secure.
The voltage and current of the adapter should match the specifications of your laptop. Mismatched voltage or current can cause damage to the laptop.
To check the battery life status of your laptop, use the appropriate LG app for your model:

  • For laptops released in 2025, use the 'my gram' app.
  • For laptops released between 2022 and 2024, use the 'LG Smart Assistant' app.
  • For laptops released before 2022, use the 'LG Control Center' app.

If the battery is faulty or has reached the end of its lifespan, it may not charge properly.
Please follow the guide below. If the issue is due to the laptop malfunctioning, please request service assistance.

Try this

Verify that the voltage and current values on adapter and device match.

Check the specifications label on the adapter and the laptop (usually at the bottom) and verify that they match.

※ If you use a low power adapter (40W) to charge a laptop that requires high power (90W or 60W),
issues such as the laptop not charging or the LCD screen blinking may occur.

The power specifications on the laptop and adapter are being checked

※ Power(W)=Voltage(V) * Current(A). In the above figure, the adapter capacity is 48W(19*2.53).

Check the adapter connections.

Make sure the power plug, power cable and connector (connecting to the laptop) are all securely connected.

The power plug to the electric outlet, power cable to the adapter and connector to the laptop are securely connected.

※ If everything is properly connected, the battery indicator will light up.
The indicator is usually located on the left side of the laptop. For some models, the indicator is next to the power button.

The battery indicator on the left side of the laptop is lit up.
Note

Checking the charging status

After connecting the AC adapter to your PC’s USB-C™ port, the charging status can be checked by observing the indicator light.

  • Light On : AC adapter is connected and charging is complete.
  • Blinking : AC adapter is connected and the laptop is charging.
  • Light Off : AC adapter is not connected.

If the laptop enters extreme power-saving mode or powers off after a low battery warning, it will not power on when you press the power button.
In this case, the power status indicator will blink three times.
When this happens, connect the AC adapter and allow the battery to charge sufficiently before using the laptop again.

If the laptop powers off immediately after disconnecting the adapter

This is either a battery or internal hardware related issue. Please request service if you experience this problem.

Note
If the surrounding temperature is low, the battery level indicator may not be accurate.
The battery level indicator will function normally after charging or discharging the battery two to three times at room temperature.
If the temperature of the battery drops below 10 °C, it will charge slowly to protect the cells, which may result in charging times of up to 32 hours.
