Rated 4 out of 5 by from Refrigerant refill Doesn't seem to get as cold as it use to. I drained it, made sure all filters are clean and hose placement is correct. Does the refrigerant need to be filled maybe?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The little AC that could…. I’ve had this unit for years. First in VA in a 16x20 shop to keep cool in the summer. I moved to Alabama and it’s still trucking along in my 32x40 shop. Undersized? Yep…. But it keeps the temp in the high 70s even in the summer and I’ve never had an issue. I’ll upgrade next year but couldnt ask for a more reliable unit that really did the job well in the first shop and has done surprisingly well in the larger shop, considering.

Radon refill? Not cooling.

Asked by: Deb92222
Radon is a gas and is not used in air conditioners. It is very rare for a Portable Air Conditioner or any type of air conditioner to not be cooling as a result of not enough or low refrigerant in it. The refrigerant is in a closed system and if it is low and needs to be refilled, it means that you have a leak in the system which is not good & you will need to stop using the unit immediately and have it repaired. The refrigerant used in the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0814WNR has a very distinctive odor to it and if it was leaking, you would have noticed the smell. The most common cause of a portable air conditioner not cooling a room is lack of airflow. If the air filter is dirty or clogged, there may not be enough air flowing over the evaporator coils and the coils can become too cold and frost over. This restricts airflow and a portable AC won't cool the room. To diagnose the problem of the portable AC not cooling enough, first check the filter and see if it is clogged or dirty. If it is, clean it. Inspect the exhaust hose and see if there is any obstruction here. An excessively long exhaust hose could also be a problem. If it is too long then it won’t vent hot air efficiently. Check to make sure that the exhaust hose is as straight as possible and is not bent Try to ensure that this hose is as short as possible.Frost build-up can also limit airflow. Check for frost in the cooling or evaporator coils. Debris in the system, frost or any kind of obstruction will adversely affect airflow. An overheated compressor may also lead to a lack of airflow. Inspect the window section of the portable AC unit and the hose to see if there is adequate ventilation. Check if doors or windows have been mistakenly left open and ensure the fan speed is high or at its highest. At times vents or gaps in doors and windows can let cool air escape, making it feel like the portable air conditioner is not providing enough cooling. If all of those things check out, the solution may be one or two other things: • Improperly sized unit • Ambient temperatures too high Portable cooling systems are designed and meant to cool small to medium sized areas. Common places include a living room, bedroom, basement, a study or lounge. For that reason, portable air conditioners are often used for supplemental cooling and most often used in areas where centralized air conditioners do not cool a space inside a home or office evenly. Being small units, portable AC units can have insufficient cooling if they are used in too large of areas or rooms, if there are too many people inside a room or if there is some issue with the system. f the unit is too small for a given room and if the outside temperature is too high for the appliance, then it will struggle to cool the place to the desired extent. If the portable AC unit is too close to the window, then the hose will sag and this can restrict airflow. The refrigerant can be refilled, but that is usually costly and you may be better off buying a new unit...^IFV

Does this air conditioner require water to be filled in the unit before using it?

Asked by: Lan11
Neither this LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0814WNR nor any of our air conditioners require water. They all use a refrigerant that is already sealed in the unit to cool, just like a refrigerator...^IFV

I have this unit it works fine when it is on and in any mode except the cool mode. When it is in the cool mode it works but makes a loud squealing noise almost like whining. Wondering how to troubleshoot it and fix it? And where i can get parts for it?

I have a unit. Not sure how to empty the water out...it's never indicated that it's full but we've had it running most of the summer for a few years now and the light never comes on... We tried opening the nozzle on the back but nothing came out... Help

Asked by: Hhelp
Hello, needing to drain the tank will depend on the humidity level in your area. When the internal water collection tank is full, FL will appear in the display and the air conditioner will turn off until the tank is emptied. ^AC

Is there a way to program in a temperature and lock it in so that it won’t turn on unless the room temperature is higher than the programmed temp? If so, please give specific instructions as to how to do so. Thank you

Asked by: Beth326
Yes, as per the manual on page 12, power on the unit, select COOL Mode, select the desired temperature you would like the room to be and the unit will run until the room reaches the desired temp and them will cycle on and off to maintain that set temp. ^AC
