What people are saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lasted less than 5 years. Lost all coolant and became a fan only. Didn’t like that it always ran in either fan or cool mode instead of just shutting off when it reached temperature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty decent It gets cold almost right away when you turn it on which always feels great. I use it in my RV & I’m not sure how many square feet it is exactly (it’s a 36’ 5th wheel), but I assume with a 200sqft rating it could cool the entire place. In all honesty it really cant or if it can it needs to stay on 24/7. It mostly keeps the whole bottom section cooled down but really does nothing for bedroom if it’s down there. If I bring it up to the bedroom area it’ll cool that area down extremely quickly.

Does the hose have to be used or can it just run without it

Asked by: Jmel829
Like all other Portable Air Conditioners, the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0817WSR has to be vented to the outside otherwise all you will be doing is just recycling the hot moisture-laden air back into the room that the air conditioner is installed in so you do have to use the flexible vent hose when you run the unit in Cool and Fan mode. The only time that you can run the unit without the flexible vent hose is when you run it in Dry Mode when you need dehumidification in high humidity only without any cooling. You can remove the drain plug for the upper drain port and when using the Dry (dehumidifying) mode and install a drain hose (16mm [5/8”] inside diameter) and place the open end of the hose over a drain or bucket or out the window...^Ivan

I have the LP0817wsr. I don’t have instructions. Do I need to change filters? Or empty water out?

Asked by: Bern08
When the internal water collection tank in the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0817WSR will need to be emptied when it is full. When the internal water collection tank is full, the LED display will show E5 and the air conditioner will turn off until the tank is emptied. The air filters should be cleaned every two weeks; depending on your indoor air quality, more frequent cleaning may be needed. A dirty air filter will decrease airflow and reduce the air conditioner's efficiency. You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean the filters. If the filters are heavily soiled, they can be washed in warm water using a mild detergent. YOu can download and print out a PDF copy of the owner's manual (instruction manual) from the support page for the air conditioner on our site...^Ivan

After having this product for over two years out of nowhere it gives us an error E5 after about four hours of running and shuts off then we have to empty the water tank for it to work again. It has never done this until now.

Asked by: Lem09
There is nothing wrong with the Air Conditioner. It is working as designed. As described in the "Emptying the Water Collection Tank" section on page 24 of your owner's manual for the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0817WSR, under 'Using the Lower Drain Port', "When the internal water collection tank is full, the LED display will show E5 and the air conditioner will turn off until the tank is emptied"...^Ivan

My mom has this air conditioner and she is complaining about how high the humidity is, sometimes 70-80%.  She has the temperature set at 21.  The air conditioner does not allow her to set the temperature any higher than 21, which makes her room very cold.

Asked by: Moniz
Is the temperature that you are referring to in Celsius or Fahrenheit? The ▲/▼buttons on the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0817WSR adjust the set temperature for the air conditioner from 60°F to 86°F (16°C to 30°C) in one-degree increments. If you are running the DRY mode (dehumidification mode) for the air conditioner to remove humidity from the room, the target temperature is automatically set to 4°F (2°C) below the current room temperature. If desired, the temperature differential can be manually set by using the ▲/▼ buttons, within a range of -4°F (-2°C) less to 4°F (2°C) more than the room temperature. Unlike a dehumidifier that you can set for a targeted percentage of humidity in a room, this air conditioner cannot be set for a targeted percentage of humidity in a room and it cannot read the current humidity level in a room automatically since it does not have built-in humidity reading...^IFV

which LG air conditioner portable is high efficiency energy? and what is the ratio?

Asked by: bbair
In comparison to other cooling options, such as window-mounted AC units and central air, portable units are, for the most part, less energy efficient in general. There is no EER (Energy Efficiency Rating) listed for our Portable Air Conditioners. They all have the new ASHRAE Standard for Portable Air Conditioners. The LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0817WSR is a discontinued product, but it has an ASHRAE 128 STD Cooling BTU Performance of 8,000 BTU. The EER can be calculated for the unit and it would be an EER of 8.2...^IFV
