What people are saying
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Amperage Hog This thing pulls 12 Amps??!! I was wondering why my circuit breaker was tripping and the rest of the lights in the house flicker when it cycles on! Better unplug everything else on the circuit or you'll end up having to install 12 gauge wire on a dedicated circuit just for this A/C!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two thumbs up! I replace old AC with LG. It has good features; vent swing, spreads wind up & down and sleep mode, light off. It cools down my living room and two rooms. Last month It was 98' few days in my town. My living was cool. It does its job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The cooling is so wonderful I bought one and it had two filters so I put them both in with the paper sides back to back. It cooled great so next day I bought a second one but it had no filters. The web site has no filters for sale. Also the wheels are so small there is no room to get a pan under to drain the water. Please use larger wheels or make a hand pump. The cooling is wonderful.

How much F grade can it cool?

Asked by: rauli2000
You will have to pardon us as we are not familiar with what 'F grade" is and will need some clarification. The LG 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1417GSR uses R410A Refrigerant and its thermostat can be set from 60°F to 86°F (16°C to 30°C) in one-degree increments or decrements...^IFV

May I transport it on its back?

Asked by: WestLeaf
If you can avoid it, the LG 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP1417GSR should not be transported on its back. If you do not have any other option, you can turn it on its side for shipping and storage, but you should never run or install it that way. The compressor of an air conditioner is a bit like a small electric motor in that it has gears and turning parts that require lubrication. The lubrication in the air conditioner compressor comes in the form of oil, typically located in the compressor case itself. When an air conditioner is turned on its side or back, this oil settles on the bottom half of the compressor and potentially deprives part of the compressor of oil, which can lead to damage and, eventually, compressor burnout. If an air conditioner has been stored on its side, or if it has been shipped that way, take care to ensure it has been turned horizontally for a period of at least 24 hours prior to running the unit. This allows sufficient time for any oils and lubricants to resettle back to their proper levels, providing protection for internal gears and moving parts...^IFV

Unit is giving a code E 5

Asked by: Ronald 2001
The E5 error code indicates that the water collection tank is full. To drain the water collection tank completely, leave the bottom drain cap off long enough to allow any residual water to drain out. Once the water tank is completely drained and no more water flows out, reinstall the cap. ^CP
