Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent back-up drive. Rating for the device itself: Excellent. Rating for the accompanying software: Good. Install time was very quick (maybe, 10 minutes). Fit and finish is good within the existing case. Immediately used to back up an existing NAS box over GigE on the corp net. Took about 10 hours to back up 1.2TB of data, no issues whatsoever - clean and fast and quiet backup. I like the fact that it can burn 100GB M-DISC BDR blanks - these are excellent for archive storage and have a very long lifespan, so I know our data is safe in offsite-storage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I wish that DVD-DL was writeable at ×16. DVD-DL reading at ×12 and writing at ×8. BD-R MDisc SL at 4x CLV but DL at 6x CLV. BD-R writing at 16x but reading only 12x? CD-RW only 24x? Why not 32x? Good drive, but I do not understand these limitations.

I want to convert a 58 GB mp4 file of 4K video to play on DVD player. Is this possible? What type of DVD players will I need. What burning software will I need.

Asked by: sssesq
The LG Internal Blu-ray Drive Ultra HD Blu-Ray Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # WH16NS60 will write to BD-R (SL), M-DISC BD (BD-R SL / DL / TL),BD-R(DL), BD-R (TL), BD-R(QL), BD-R (LTH), BD-RE (SL/DL/TL), DVD-R (SL), DVD-R (DL), DVD+R (SL), M-DISC DVD (DVD+R), DVD+R (DL), DVD+RW, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM, CD-R and CD-RW discs. Regrettably, since we do not make burning software, we do not have one that we can recommend other than the CyberLink Software that comes bundled with the unit. There is a variety of creators available online that you can use to convert and burn MP4 videos to Blu-ray discs/folders/ISO files easily and quickly that can be played on the WHI16NS60...^IFV

Will WH16NS60 drive play UHD movies in this configuration: Player app: Cyberlink PowerDVD 18 Ultra. OS: Windows 10 Pro. Motherboard/CPU: Asus M5A97LE R2.0/AMD FX 8350 CPU. Graphic card: EVGA GeForce GTX1050Ti. TV: Samsung SUHD 9800.

Asked by: Buckingham
That will depend on your system. Regrettably, we do not know the specifications for your Motherboard/CPU: Asus M5A97LE R2.0/AMD FX 8350 CPU. Graphic card: EVGA GeForce GTX1050Ti. TV: Samsung SUHD 9800 to determine if the LG Internal Blu-ray Drive Ultra HD Blu-Ray Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # WH16NS60 will play UHD movies. In order to play UHD Blu-rays, your system must support AACS 2.0 and Intel’s Software Guard Extensions (SGX). You’ll need software to play the disc itself, and a GPU with HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 support. AACS 2.0 also has to be implemented within the GPU driver, and we don't know if any current stand-alone GPU drivers have this functionality. Finally, you need a 4K TV with both HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 support as well. No Intel chips before Skylake support SGX, and just owning a Skylake board isn’t enough — many desktop boards never implemented the feature and don’t support it in UEFI. The HDCP 2.2 support requirement is also dodgy, since not every Intel board supports that standard, either...^IFV

Hello, I have an ASRock Z370 Pro4 motherboard (300 Series) with an Intel i3-8350k Coffelake (300 Series) CPU, 16GB of DDR4 2666 Ram, Zotac GTX 1050 Ti video card that is HDCP Ready and an LG 4K HDCP Ready monitor. Will I be able to play/watch 4K movies?

Asked by: Timewarpone
The Ultra HD Blu-ray logo on the LG Internal Blu-ray Drive Ultra HD Blu-Ray Playback & M-DISC™ Support, Model # WH16NS60 indicates that this is a digital optical disc data storage format that supersedes Blu-ray. Ultra HD Blu-ray discs are incompatible with existing Blu-ray players Ultra HD Blu-ray supports 4K UHD (3840 × 2160 resolution) video at frame rates up to 60 frames per second, encoded using High Efficiency Video Coding and the discs support both high dynamic range by increasing the color depth to 10-bit per color and a greater color gamut than supported by conventional Blu-ray video by using the Rec. 2020 color space. To pass 4K video, you need HDMI 2.0 ports and everything in your video path has to be HDCP 2.2 compliant. IF any one component in that path is not HDCP 2.2 compliant, you will not get 4K...^IFV
