What People Are Saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cleans well when it's not broken Our dishwasher is only three years old and we have had to fix it three times already. We like it when it's working--it cleans well and dries exceptionally well, but we will be buying a new, non-LG dishwasher just to avoid future errors. Our new LG oven is also already having errors.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LDS5540BB dishwasher odor I have had this dishwasher for a few years now and it stinks, as in has a bad odor, this started not long after purchase. Smells like fish or stinky feet. I use my dishwasher 1-2 times a week and if I don't pour bleach or vinegar in it pior to starting it the dishes will stink when done washing. Does not clean my silver wear well, always had to wash by hand after being washed in dishwasher, so no longer put in dishwasher. Dishes are wet due to no heating element. I have tried different detergents and with my water Finish works best. This dishwasher is quieter than others that I have had. Easy to use. I have other LG items that have worked great. Why aren't my dishes getting clean? I've cleaned all the spray arms, added my rinse aid, and ran a cycle with a cup of vinegar in the bottom rack. The top rack is especially a problem.

How do I clean filter? Why is there water on floor after cycle?

Asked by: Tree tree
We appreciate your interest in this dishwasher. This model is designed with a SELF CLEANING FILTER, as is noted on page 5 of the owner’s manual. All that may be needed is to clear the bottom of the dishwasher cavity. If buildup remains, it may be suggested to run an empty wash cycle with vinegar in the tub. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to troubleshoot this matter further.

I apologize, but no; if the power is interrupted during a cycle, and be incomplete, then the cycle will have to be restarted.

My dishes are gritty after the cycle is complete. The troubleshooting tips said to clean my filter. I tried to clean the gunk out of the filter that I could get to, but most of it is inaccessible. What should I do?

Asked by: MindyO
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. It is suggested to run a wash cycle that is empty other than a cup of vinegar. This should help with any buildup which might be present in the dishwasher.

My dishes aren't clean and the soap dispenser door is open at the end of cycle but the soap remains in the cup. I used a normal cycle.

Asked by: NDmom
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. It is recommended to check the incoming HOT water temperature, to make sure it is a minimum of 120 degrees Fahrenheit. This must be in order to activate the detergent properly. If this does not resolve the matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to troubleshoot the matter further.

Can I have the End cycle notification remain on until I open the dishwasher?  Otherwise, it is impossible for people to know if the dishwasher is clean or dirty.

Asked by: Blivermon
I apologize, but no; according to page 10 of your owner’s manual, a chime will sound and the display will show “END” when the cycle is complete. After a short time, the display and controls will shut off for safety and energy conservation.
