Where can I get the ZigBee Module for this? None of my smartthinq appliances came with one.
We appreciate your interest in the operations of this washing machine. A ZigBee modem relates to different utility companies. The manufacturer does not supply this device. However, it may be possible to obtain them online, or at your local Radio Shack. It may also be possible that the utility company may carry them.

Why doesn't dryer door come straight down instead of opening from the side?
I have always liked dryers that have the door that comes straight down so I can then use it as a mini-folding table as the clothes come out of the dryer. It also prevents any problems with the door hitting anything as it does potentially with it opening from the side. Can this dryer door be adjusted to come straight down?
I agree totally. I would have much preferred the door opening straight down --- as I used it as a mini-folding table also. Unfortunately however, it appears you can only modify the door to open from left-to-right or from right-to-left. The geometry of the door precludes it from opening straight down (That was one of the first things I checked before purchasing it). I purchased it anyway however, because you can't really find a high-quality machine whose door opens straight down anymore. I can tell you however, that after using the machine for a while, you get used to it. So, it's not really a big deal...but it would have been better had they designed it so the door had a straight down installation option in addition to its current configuration.

Do you have a SmartApp for Windows 8.1 phones, or is it just for iphones?
Looking to purchase a new dryer, but if the SmartApp does not work with Windows phones, I don't see a need to buy this feature.
To the best of my knowledge, the SmartApp features only work with Android-like phones. I have a Windows phone myself and therefore cannot use the SmartApp features. This, to me, is the biggest downside to the machine. Other than that however, it is the best dryer I have ever owned. I really like it.

Difference between several models
I am having trouble finding the models from the website in local stores and getting a little confused. This is all for electric dryers. I looked at the dlex8500V, 8000v, 6001v and can not see difference in these as far as features. Is is because some were discontinued as I found out from Home Depot for the 8500? If so can you advise what years these model were manufactured and which model supersedes the next?
Does this appliance work with straight wifi?
To restate the question, I read in the manual about Zigbee and utility provided smart grid. Then I read about wifi and the setup procedures look like I can just connect to my wifi. Is Zigbee and SmartGrid required to enjoy the connectivity features of this appliance?
