Dolby Vision™

Dolby Vision™* is a premium, proprietary version of HDR. Dolby works directly with filmmakers at major Hollywood studios to create superior HDR video masters of blockbuster movies.

The Science of Dolby Vision™

All HDR masters contain something called metadata, information encoded into the signal that dictates the color and brightness. Only Dolby Vision™ utilizes dynamic metadata, which sets individual color and brightness levels frame by frame. This results in a more accurate representation of how the image should look.

By comparison, generic HDR10 calls for static metadata, a single average of this color and brightness level for the entire program.

Now Available on Select LG TVs

All LG Super UHD TVs feature HDR Super, which includes premium Dolby Vision™ in addition to industry-standard HDR10 together in one TV. Samsung and Sony don’t. And 2016 OLED 4K TVs offer the same combination of HDR support, plus perfect black and cinematic color.
