Rated 5 out of 5 by from i had this for 10 years i loved it , this system could be heard across the street with the windows closed in a suburban neighborhood... it can get LOUUUUUUUD. reason i said i loved instead of i love is because im upgrading to a bose acoustimass after 10 years. this is a solid system for its price and did me well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Sound System Ever! I love this stereo so much... it can go so loud! it is also compact, with small speakers that can go REALLY loud! I love this!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Firmware Support I love the specs and ease of use but several firmware updates had their drawbacks. First the removed Searching on Netflix and now Youtube does not connect to the servers. Once in a while it locks up and cannot fast forward on certain DLNA files, which means the codecs need updating. Also, there is some nasty hissing from the speakers for a few minutes when it turns on. Going from powering On to finally starting a Netflix video also takes forever. Too many things load just to move through the menu.

I need to replace the speaker wires, where can I find replacements?

Asked by: AppleS3344
You can use any gauge of wire for the speakers as long as it will fit into the alligator connectors in the back of the speakers. The gauge of wire that is commonly used for small speakers like this with alligator connectors is usually 18-gauge or 16 gauge. ^AC

Has latest firmware. I recorded CDs to a USB device -- 32GB FAT32. Trying to add some more. Now refuses to recognize the same USB device. It reads in Windows. I have another USB 2GB FAT16 and it recognizes that, so usb port is operational.

We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this Home Theater System. It is recommended to check the file types on the USB Flash Drive. This player should be fully compatible with WMA and MP3 formats. If the disc was recorded in a CDA format, it may not be compatible. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Center, rear speakers have only hiss

Tried with Network TV, DVD, Netflix. Only faint hissing on center and both rear speakers. Also, volume control in the menu doesn't allow me to set it some speakers above zero, although it can go to minus numbers(?)
Asked by: Dantalion
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this Home Theater System. It seems that the audio signal being received to the system may be in a STEREO format, rather than Surround Sound, which would limit the audio signal to the front left / front right speakers. This would also leave no tone in the back or center speaker channels. If this does not prove to be the case, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

Does blu-ray dialogue require a center speaker?

Can I run this system in 2.1 (Front left and right with a subwoofer) and have it automatically downmix a blu-ray? The Cosmos blu-ray only has a 5.1 DTS track and the dialogue is not coming through the side speakers even when set to 'Natural' sound effect. When using the Optical input from my TV, dialogue plays fine.
Asked by: djherring
We appreciate your interest in this Home Theater System. Yes, this system does have the option for a 2 Channel Down Mix. The audio settings will likely require a PCM setting.

My Player stops playing DVD's that worked a few weeks ago.

My Player stops playing DVD's that worked a few weeks ago. It has the same problem with CD's and Blu-Ray disc's.
Asked by: Jaycm
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this Home Theater System. If the player is no longer playing discs that have worked previously, and the discs have been confirmed to be clean, and the player itself has been cleaned, then the unit may require service. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to make proper service arrangements.

How do I download updates using a usb drive?

I have tried over and over again to follow the directions on the software update site for downloading with a usb, but nothing happens. I am on the home screen and put my usb drive in and nothing happens. nothing is prompted. If I hit enter then it just takes me to my folders under the movie category and I cant open anything that isn't an audio/visual file. It doesn't automatically start downloading or anything.
Asked by: Rebekah
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this system. It is recommended to place the UNCOMPRESSED update file into the ROOT directory of an otherwise empty Flash Drive. Performing the task in this manner should prevent any interruptions by other files. Connect the Flash Drive to the USB port and then the file should automatically activate the process.

How do I download updates from a flash drive to my LHB535?

Asked by: KANE573
We appreciate your interest in the process of firmware updates. There are two firmware updates listed on our website: one was issued on 3/23/2011, and the other was issued on 3/28/2013. The firmware update should be extracted from the ZIP file and stored on an empty flash drive. For the latest update, the file names should be labeled as LG_HB_5100B30.ROM-00 and LG_HB_5100B30.ROM-01. These files should be on the ROOT FOLDER of the drive. Access the HOME MENU on the TV, connect the drive, and then press the ENTER key on the remote control. After pressing the ENTER key, the TV will process the installation from this point, until it resets the TV and displays a COMPLETE message. These instructions can be found on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-LHB535#, and clicking the VIEW MORE link.
