What people are saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please Wait…… The only function that works is volume. All other functions say please wait, even the power, which means I can’t even turn it off!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Gets the job done Although there are far more superior sound systems, this sound bar performs at louder than expected volumes. The bass is a bit lacking but adequate.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SL8YG incompatible performance with C1 OLED Its really disappointing to discover that the LG SL8YG is incompatible with LG C1 OLED. I purchased the TV with high expectations of having experience for Dolby Atmos, however due to the incompatibility between these devices I am unable to view in desired format. LG should maintain compatibility between their devices atleast. Poor support. Tried contacting the supports team by various means but no response received.

Compatability with 75QNED90UPA TV. Alternative LG sound systems?

Asked by: Seabee58
The LG SL8YG 3.1.2 Channel 440W Sound Bar w/ Meridian Technology & Dolby Atmos will work with the LG QNED MiniLED 90 Series 2021 75 inch Class 4K Smart TV w/ AI ThinQ® (74.5'' Diag), Model # 75QNED90UPA. Any of our Soundbars will work with the TV, and any of our Soundbars that support Dolby Atmos would be best suited for the TV. The TV is also a WiSA Ready TV so WiSA Speakers are an alternative. You will need to purchase a separate dongle for the WiSA speakers...^Ivan

Is the SL8YG compatible with a 75 UK6500PLA Tv??

Asked by: Pops21
Regrettably, Model # 75UK6500PLA is not a model that was released in the U.S. and we do not have information for it here in the U.S. The LG SL8YG 3.1.2 Channel 440W Sound Bar w/ Meridian Technology & Dolby Atmos supports Bluetooth and it features an HDMI Out and an Optical Digital Audio Out. If your TV is a Bluetooth enabled TV, you will be able to pair it with the Soundbar via Bluetooth (i.e. LG Sound Sync). If it has an HDMI ARC port, you can connect that to the HDMI Out (TV ARC) on the Soundbar. The TV should have an Optical Digital Audio Out like most if not all current TVs do and you can connect that to the Optical Digital Audio In on the Soundbar...^IFV

I am struggling to connect to the sound bar using Bluetooth. The manual says I have to connect to the WiFi first. The WiFi I am using requires the MAC address of the device in order to connect. Where do I find the MAC address on this soundbar?

How far up to the sound bar should i seat my couch for the best listening experience?

Asked by: plo12
The LG SL8YG 3.1.2 Channel 440W Sound Bar w/ Meridian Technology & Dolby Atmos is a Dolby Atmos-enabled Soundbar and Dolby recommends that a Soundbar with a 3:1:2 configuration, as this Soundbar has, it should be located at least 4 to 5 feet(1.2 to 1.5 meters) from the listener’s seated position for an ideal playback experience. Avoid sitting too close to the soundbar, and avoid positioning the soundbar so low that you are looking down on the top of the soundbar, as this will disrupt the sonic effect. For ideal results, place the soundbar below your television at approximately ear level and orient the seating position so that it directly faces the television. Avoid placing any obstructions between the soundbar and the listening position. The Dolby height virtualizer is extremely flexible and does not require any special room considerations to work. All viewers within the seating area will experience an enhanced height sensation that previous soundbars do not provide...^IFV

Could hdmi 2.0 get the "earc" function via firmware upgrade? Does this support Dolby Vision?

Asked by: LA1401089
LG has not made any announcements about the LG SL8Y 3.1.2 Channel 440W Sound Bar w/ Meridian Technology & Dolby Atmos receiving a firmware upgrade that will add support for eARC. The Soundbar does not support Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision is a video signal and the Soundbar does not process video. It does support 4K Pass-through which is a feature that allows a video source to pass unaffected through the receiver to a 4K TV without any processing so it will allow a video signal carrying Dolby Vision dynamic metadata to pass through...^IFV
