I have a 17 "lg laptop and I use it almost every day between 8 and 14 continuous hours, I generally charge it one time a day but I want to know if I can leave it charging all day, and if this will damage the battery. I await your recommendations Thank you

There is no way to "overcharge" the 80Wh, 2 Cell Lithium Ion battery in the LG gram 17'' Ultra-Lightweight Laptop with 10th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor w/Intel Iris® Plus® - COSTCO EXCLUSIVE, Model # 17Z90N-R.AAC8U1. It’s important to understand the basics of how the standard lithium-ion (Li-ion) and Lithium-polymer (LiPo) batteries in modern devices work. When you get to 100% charge and leave your laptop plugged in, the charger will stop charging the battery. The laptop will just run directly off the power cable. After the battery discharges a bit, the charger will kick into gear again and top the battery off. There’s no risk of damaging the battery by charging it over its capacity. Your laptop battery will always wear down over time. The more charge cycles you put the battery through, the more it will wear down. Different batteries have different ratings, but you can often expect about 500 full charge cycles. That doesn’t mean you should avoid discharging the battery. Storing the battery at a high charge level is bad for it. On the other hand, letting the battery run down to completely empty every single time you use it is also bad. There’s no way to just tell your laptop to leave the battery at about 50% full, which might be ideal. On top of that, high temperatures will also wear down the battery more quickly. Heat is bad for batteries. So, if the laptop had a removable battery, you would want to remove the battery from the laptop if you plan on leaving it plugged in for a long time. This will ensure the battery isn’t exposed to all that unnecessary heat. Since the laptop does not have a removable battery, this tip does not apply. Ultimately, it’s not clear which is worse for a battery. Leaving the battery at 100% capacity will decrease its lifespan, but running it through repeated discharge and recharge cycles will also decrease its lifespan. Basically, whatever you do, your battery will wear down and lose capacity. That’s just how batteries work...^IFV

Windows 10 has identified "LG Electronics - Firmware - 1.0.2006.180" as an optional update for my LG Gram 17. But the LG update tool does not ID this as an available update. I know firmware updates can be finicky - should I install this? Thanks.

Can you overclock the i7-1065G7 CPU ? The key features states "Turbo up to 3.90GHz". How do you increase that clock setting?

Asked by: kbrkr
Overclocking is possible on the LG gram 17'' Ultra-Lightweight Laptop with 10th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor w/Intel Iris® Plus® - COSTCO EXCLUSIVE, Model # 17Z90N-R.AAC8U1, and is in fact used to increase the performance of laptops beyond a certain level. Intel® Turbo Boost Technology (TBT) is one of the features built into latest-generation Intel micro architecture. It automatically allows processor cores to run faster than the base operating frequency if it's operating below power, current, and temperature specification limits. Intel® Turbo Boost Technology is activated when the Operating System (OS) requests the highest processor performance state (P0). The maximum frequency of Intel® Turbo Boost Technology is dependent on the number of active cores. The amount of time the processor spends in the Intel Turbo Boost Technology state depends on the workload and operating environment. When the processor is operating below these limits and the workload demands additional performance, the processor frequency will dynamically increase up to 3.90GHz on short and regular intervals until the upper limit is met or the maximum possible upside for the number of active cores is reached. Intel Turbo Boost Technology is a way to automatically run the processor core faster than the marked frequency. The processor must be working in the power, temperature, and specification limits of the thermal design power (TDP). This results in increased performance of both single and multithreaded applications...^IFV

Can the operating system be upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro? If so is there a estimate of the cost to do so?

Asked by: Dwight101

Can this model be upgrade RAM to 32GB or Hard drive to 1TB? And does this laptop can edit 4K video?

Asked by: Tan Trinh
The LG gram 17'' Ultra-Lightweight Laptop with 10th Gen Intel® Core™ Processor w/Intel Iris® Plus® - COSTCO EXCLUSIVE comes with 16GB DDR4 3200MHz installed, but one of the RAM slots is onboard memory, meaning that it is soldered to the mother board so it cannot be changed. The other slot that has 8GB can be exchanged with 16GB for a total of 24GB. As for you being able to edit 4K video on the laptop, you need a minimum of 32GB or more, but since you can only get a total of 24GB on this laptop, you can always use proxy files and offline editing, meaning, making copies of the 4k video files at a lower resolution. You can then load these lower resolution files in to your editing software and edit using these. Before you export your finished edited video you replace the low-resolution, proxy, files with the full resolution 4K ones. Then all that is left is a final color edit and to export the final 4K file...^IFV

I purchased the COSTCO EXCLUSIVE, Model # 17Z90N-R.AAC8U1 and it does not allow me to play a game. Can the graphic card be upgraded?

Asked by: JT1234
The graphics "card" is part of the CPU also known as an integrated video card. Very few laptops in general allow for their graphics card to be upgraded - and this is one of those types (also, this is not considered a "gaming" laptop). However, there are options for external graphics cards to be connected via the USB-C port, but those options are typically just for the chasis/dock and you still have to buy the graphics card which makes it very cost prohibitive.
