Rated 3 out of 5 by from LG Gram 15Z96 As good as this product is, the battery is way below quality. Only in 2 weeks, my battery does not charge above 70%

Rated 4 out of 5 by from the lightness of being! Purchased for the wife yesterday. While she is nowhere near a power user this will serve her guite well for email, surfing the Internet and editing photos. It even came with MS word, excel and power point and pre-installed PS CC. Unbelievable light compared to her old series 7 samsung and the screen is an absolute joy to look at.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably good. I am a very particular and picky person when it comes to electronics. This is why I tend to gravitate towards a particular brand... one that has to do with a fruit. I believe that the most attractive products are culminated by striking the perfect balance between design and functionality. First off, the LG Gram 15 looks exactly like it does in the pictures. There is no advertising deception to be uncovered here. I was thrilled to find that my unit had absolutely 0 dead pixels, even under intense scrutiny. The screen is beautiful, and I don't find myself yearning for 4k. The fan is very quiet and rarely turns on due to Intel Skylake's efficiency. The gold color is not gaudy or overly flashy, but is light and matte. I am glad they went with the gold matte finish because I feel like it will give it a cool ironman-esque battle worn look once I've accumulated a few outer scratches from normal use. The laptop is light. I mean insanely light. 2.2 lbs already sounds really light, but when you consider that the current 11" MacBook Air (2015) weighs 2.38 lbs it blows my mind. Let me say that again, this 15.6 inch laptop weighs LESS than an 11 inch Macbook Air. I can clearly go on forever in this review, but I'll start wrapping things up. - I love LG's software option to limit the charging to 80%, to extend battery life. (Lithium Ion batteries are happier when they are between 40-80%) - Magnesium body. That even sounds sexy - Performance is very snappy with Windows 10. - I like the inclusion of the number pad. - Typing feels very good. - Charger port is too tight. I sometimes feel like I'm going to break the sucker trying to plug it in or pull it out. A magnetic one would've been the cherry on top. - Screen is plastic and I've already formed some swirl marks (only visible when off) from cleaning it with a microfiber towel. - No backlit keys. (I already knew that coming in and couldn't care less about it) - Webcam is aimed at a less-than-optimal angle. All in all, it's apparent that LG had to make some compromises. I'd imagine that the exclusion of backlit keys was to save weight, cost, and battery life. The webcam had to be in the hinge in order to make the bezels so thin. I find myself agreeing with these decisions that LG has made to make their Gram 15 something special. I can't speak for the durability of this notebook since it is still practically brand new, but I am hoping that the magnesium chassis will be able to take a beating as I carry it around. If you are like me, and prefer a more traditional laptop than a touchscreen one, then this might be the one for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop ever for this price! I used Lavie Z for the light weight and surface 4. LG gram 15 beats these guys simply for the performance, larger screen, and light weight. It is just very good laptop period.

Does this PC have a backlit keyboard and is an external optical drive required?

Asked by: peekaboo
External drive required as the laptop is too thin to contain one. Back-lit keyboard is a negative, presumably also due to the thinness and the fact it isn't available as an option.

is there a webcam

Asked by: YOUSSEF
Yes, there is a webcam on the bottom of the screen, similar to the XPS series, which typically points at your nose or chin. I know it's not the best solution, but this is the only way you can have the display bezel reduced as on the other models.

I apologize, but no; according to our information, it appears that the brightness cannot be arbitrarily adjusted when the reader mode is active.
