Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still the best small size 4k display in market After almost 2 years since it released, 22MD4KA is still the best in its size range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant image, easy set-up Looking for a high quality near pro monitor for my new MacBookPro led me to find several good options but none were really tuned to the laptop like this one is. The colors and contrast are excellent out of the box. And the screen size is perfect for my desk. The only difficulty I had was updating the LG software which failed the first few times I used the monitor, however it finally took. The multi-monitor mode looks interesting but I can't see any reason I would use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monitor! If I'm being honest, I only bought this monitor because it was the least expensive one guaranteed to work flawlessly with my MacBook Pro. I'm not a tech person and I don't care to spend time researching specs to find the perfect item. I want to plug it in and have it work. This monitor does that. It has a beautiful, clear picture and its size is great for drafting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did I wait so long This monitor is everything I hoped it would be. Integration with my MacBook was easy. All I had to do was plug it in when the provided cables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An incredible display I bought this about a month ago and I’m so happy with it. It is by far, the external best display I’ve ever used. I really enjoy using it. Makes my laptop as fun to use as my iMac 5k Thank you LG!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted! As a writer, I need to have a portable computer and purchased a new MacBook. Also, sometimes I need a larger screen or multiple screens, at the same time so I purchased the LG 23MD4KA-B screen which fits perfectly on my desk. Its clarity is excellent, it's easy to watch, and I am best pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best monitor I ever have This product is definitely the best 4K consumer grade monitor on the market, and it’s actually on the edge of pro. I think this is the top level of the current monitor technology until the OLEDs and microLEDs become widely available. Extremely bright, stunning colors, invisible pixels, very little ghosting and acceptable contrast level for an LCD panel. It works perfectly with MacBook Early 2015, even the refresh rate reduced to 48 Hz. But unfortunately, even the monitor has an ambient light sensor, there is not an option for adjusting brightness automatically on the macOS display preferences interface (High Sierra, Version 10.13.4). Lastly, be aware of the three port USB-C hub on the back of the monitor is limited to 2.0 speeds because of the bandwidth limitations.

Are there plans for a non USB-C version of this display? Would love to use this with the previous generation of MacBook Pros.

Asked by: Jeff Miller
Regrettably, we do not have any information on if LG will collaborate with Apple to design another monitor like the LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA-B that does not feature USB-C ports. There should be adapters available that you can use to connect to the USB-C port on the monitor...^IFV

Regrettably, LG does not manufacture adapters that you can use to connect to the USB-C or HDMI ports on LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA. There should be a variety of adapters available and you should be able to find those through online sites or retailers that sell cables or computers...^IFV

Does the ambient light sensor work at all? I have been unable to find any report of its usage and it does not work for me in Sierra. Can you specify a combination of Mac and MacOS where it can actually be used to automatically adjust the brightness?

Asked by: Lee3
The Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) should work fine. To find how it works, open System Preferences and select Displays. Enable "Automatically adjust brightness" and the computer will use the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness. You can also check if Mac OS is updated. The ALS operates in accordance with Mac OS and some Mac OS doesn’t support the display ALS. If all mentioned above don't work, try to place your hand on the ambient light sensor and check if your screen will turn black. If not, then the ambient light sensor might not be working. ^AC

How can I adjust the brightness of the ultrafine 4K in Windows? This only seems to work in macOS. In Windows I can only change the brightness of my MacBook's screen. The slider for the ultrafine is missing.

Is this monitor work with the Windows 7 ?

Asked by: Day2night
The LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA is a Plug-and-Play monitor. The need for a monitor driver is a common misconception since these drivers have not been relevant since Windows XP, as the Plug-and-Play standard has eliminated the need for them...^IFV

Hi, is this monitor compatible with PC laptops? I have a laptop that has USB-C, Mini DP and HDMI. Could this connect through a mini DP out > USB-C in? I do not have TB3.

Asked by: juanbastos
I was hoping to hook it up to my PC (GForce 1080 card) - I tried a thunderbolt DP to USB c and it did not work. Support said ' the 22md4ka was only meant for mac with USB c and mac OSX sierra' - they did not know how to get it to work  That said, there must be some way/hack around it... It would be great to know if anyone has figured this out.....?

The tech specs say "three USB-C downstream ports (USB 5 Gbps)", which would indicate USB 3. Early press reports of this monitor said that it was only capable of USB 2 speeds. Has something changed?

Asked by: RichardHD
Hi RichardHD. Regrettably, we cannot speak on early press reports for the LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA, but it is possible that either those early specifications were incorrect. Specifications are always subject to change which is why the company does not release preliminary specifications until they are finalized...^IFV
