What people are saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Infuriating design decisions I borrowed this from someone during lockdown. They use a Mac, I use a PC. What is this obsession with minimalist design features such that it's not even considered necessary to provide some buttons to adjust the screen settings. The monitor was far too bright and I spent 15 minutes trying to find a way to adjust the setting. After looking online it appeared there is no way of doing this via the hardware. There is apparently an auto-sensor, which is clearly not a good idea unless it's complemented with a way to adjust it given that not everyone has the same preferences. It seems that you can update the settings via iOS, but I don't actually believe there's a way to adjust the settings on your PC. Maybe if you install some driver you can, but why on earth should I have to go to that much effort when you could simply provide me a few buttons to update it in 30 seconds, rather than wasting 30 minutes only to have not even solved the problem. Terrible design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture I bought this monitor to go with a new Apple Mac Mini as I had owned my old monitor for several years. I was literally shocked at how clear the picture is. I can read text on this monitor so much easier, than the old monitor. One of the best features is the fact that you just plug it into your Mac and enjoy. There is no buttons for adjustments, not even an on-off button. You simply start your computer and the picture is in perfect settings.

Can this monitor be used in Europe without a power converter? I'm assuming this is the case because the specs say 100-240V, but I'd like to know for sure before I move.

Asked by: Lizzzzz
HI Lizzzzz. The LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MKD4KA has a power rating of 100 - 240 V~ 50/60 Hz 1.4 A, so you will not need a step-down converter to use it abroad. Depending on where in Europe you move to, you will need an adapter for the plug on the monitor's power cord to fit into the electrical sockets they use since they use different types of sockets from those used in the U.S...^IFV

I installed the LG Screen Manager today from the App store, and updated the firmware of the display. However I don't have the "screen split" tab/functionality in the LG Screen Manager. Is this expected? Is there a missing step to set this up?

Asked by: emirpprime
The LG Screen Manager has been optimized for MacOS to provide a variety of multi-screen options and should enable you to automatically divide the screen on the LG 22" Class UltraFine™ 4K IPS LED Monitor (21.5" Diagonal), Model # 22MD4KA-B into two or four frames according to your specific needs. Regrettably, we are not familiar with which app store you downloaded the software from. There should be a download link on the monitor's support page on our site. You may want to download the software from there. The U.K. site may be different from that in the U.S. and if you need assistance, please contact the Support Center in the U.K., https://www.lg.com/uk for assistance...^IFV

Does the ambient light sensor work at all? I have been unable to find any report of its usage and it does not work for me in Sierra. Can you specify a combination of Mac and MacOS where it can actually be used to automatically adjust the brightness?

Asked by: Lee3
The Ambient Light Sensor (ALS) should work fine. To find how it works, open System Preferences and select Displays. Enable "Automatically adjust brightness" and the computer will use the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness. You can also check if Mac OS is updated. The ALS operates in accordance with Mac OS and some Mac OS doesn’t support the display ALS. If all mentioned above don't work, try to place your hand on the ambient light sensor and check if your screen will turn black. If not, then the ambient light sensor might not be working. ^AC
