What people are saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good monitor; awful stand. Good monitor, but the stand is horrific. I bought two of these monitors, and neither one sits right. Both are crooked, no matter how much you adjust it, they always go cockeyed. One of these garbage stands collapsed out of nowhere, causing a big scratch on the screen. I'm amazed that they'd put such a cheap stand (it really is like a child's toy quality) on such an expensive monitor.

is this the same as a 27UN850-W?

Asked by: Bill1954
The LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UK850-W is a 2018 model, and the LG 27” IPS 4K UHD VESA HDR400 USB-C Monitor, Model # 27UN850-W is a 2020 model. Differences between the monitors are that the 27UK850-W is not a VESA DisplayHDR™ 400 certified monitor, it is an AH-IPS panel whereas the 27UN850-W is an IPS panel, the DisplayPort on the 27UN850-W is a DisplayPort version 1.4 port and on the 27UK850-W it is a DisplayPort version 1.2 port, so you can think of the 2020 Model # 27UN850-W as a more recent version of the 2018 Model # 27UK850-W with some changes on it...^Ivan

Does this monitor have a built-in camera? How do I use my Macbook Pro with the built-in camera from the monitor or do I need to purchase a camera then attach it to the monitor?

The LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UK850-W does not have a built-in camera. If your MacBook Pro has a built-in camera, you can view images from its built-in camera on the monitor as long as it is connected to the monitor. Please refer to the owner's manual for your MacBook Pro about how to use its built-in camera with monitors or contact Apple for assistance...^IFV

When I enable "High Dynamic Range" on macOS Catalina 10.15.4, the colors get weird and the picture is unusable. Do I need to change some setting in order for HDR to work correctly with macOS?

Asked by: mv78
The newly released macOS 10.15.4 Catalina update for Mac that was released on March 25, 2020, delivers improved support for any High Dynamic Range monitor, including the LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR 10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UK850-W. After updating to 10.15.4, users with monitors that support high dynamic range —or HDR —will now see a checkbox within the Display section of System Preferences. Ticking this box will automatically adjust the display to show high dynamic range content as you have done. Apple highlighted the change in the macOS 10.15.4 release notes. The company specifically noted, "customized reference modes that you can tailor to specific workflow needs by selecting from several color gamut, white point, luminance, and transfer function options." Additionally, Apple has published a new support document that explains how to use the new reference modes. These modes will allow advanced users to create tailored modes for different workflows by choosing different "color gamut, white point, luminance, and transfer function options". We highly recommend that you contact Apple for advice about the weird colors you are experiencing...^IFV

USB peripherals data transfer rate is only 480Mb/s. I have a USB-C 3 cable (not the included cable) connected from a 15" Macbook pro to the 27UK850, and a USB-3 hard drive connected to the monitor via the USB-A port. Shouldn't the internal hub be faster?
