Hi... Can I connect t20 Computers to my 27UL850 Monitor at the same time? Both Computers have the same Motherboards and similar GPU's.. Thanks.

Asked by: RhodieBill
You will need to check the connectivity for your t20 computers and check to see what refresh rates and resolutions the graphics card in them support. Connectivity for the LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with VESA DisplayHDR 400 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UL850-W includes 2 x HDMI inputs a DisplayPort input, and a USB-C port. You can connect two PC/Laptops to any of the inputs or ports on the monitor, but you will need to switch the inputs manually to view the connected devices. The monitor has a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 and a native refresh rate of 60Hz...^Ivan

If I plug in my laptop to the USB-C port of the monitor and the picture is at max quality (4k at 60 hz), will the other USB-A ports on the monitor continue to function at USB 3 speeds, or are they downgraded to USB 2.0?

Asked by: Jrdavis
As per Owner's manual (https://www.lg.com/us/support/product/lg-27UL850-W.AUS): When the USB C-C cable is connected between Upstream port of monitor and Host PC, the Downstream port of monitor support USB 2.0 device. • When the USB C-A cable is connected between Upstream port of monitor and Host PC, the Downstream port of monitor support USB 3.0 device. However, Host PC must support USB 3.0 function.

I see conflicting reports on this monitor if it is 10 bit or 8 bit. I saw that the UN version 8 bit and the newer UL version is 10-bit.

Asked by: Hulka
The confusion is in understanding the differences between a true 10-bit monitor versus an 8-bit + FRC monitor. True 10-bit monitors offer 1024 shades of color per channel (Red, Green, Blue). Therefore, these monitors can display 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1.07 billion (approx.) colors overall. 8-bit + FRC monitors, on the other hand, actually have 8-bits (or 256 actual shades) per channel but still, they can display up to 1.07 billion (approx.) colors. The LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with VESA DisplayHDR 400 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UL850-W is an 8-bit + FRC panel so it still displays 1.07 billion colors as a true 10-bit monitor does. 8-bit + FRC monitors feature a frame rate control technique to virtually display the same number of colors as a 10-bit monitor and they use adjacent colors to the original color and then flash these two colors back to back to fool our eyes into seeing the original missing color. This is called Frame Rate Control and it is dependent on the color and the refresh speed. Modern displays support quite fast refresh rates, and hence the flickering due to FRC is not visible in most cases...^IFV

Is there a built in camera on the 27uk850 model? Also, I have attached the monitor to my Mac pro via HDMI. I have encountered a couple of problems. The monitor won't recognize my Keyboard when I plug the usb into the monitor.

Asked by: Mauy
Hi there. This model does not have a built-in camera, this is to keep the seamless thinness of the bezel. Also support should be able to troubleshoot with you on your connection, you can chat live here: https://www.lg.com/us/support, direct message them on facebook or twitter at: (LGUSSUPPORT) or call 1-800-243-0000. ^CJ

Hooked up w/USB-C cable to my Macbook Pro 16" to 27UL850. Colors are true on MBP but on LG, reds and orange are neon in color. If I switch to HDMI, colors look good. Is monitor faulty with USB-C or Do I not know how to configure? Tried vivid in setttings.

Asked by: Perplexed Business Guy
Same for me with Mac and USB-C -- I turned off the HDR and the neon colors calmed down to normal.
