Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good monitor This 27" 4K monitor has many things going for it. Colors are great (better than my 5K iMac monitor) as are images, text, and videos. The stand is well thought out and solid, and the connections in the back of the monitor (along with the cables that are supplied with it) are very handy. I'm not in love with all the different picture modes (I don't want to constantly change these), and the biggest negative for me is the single power and control button at the bottom of the monitor. I don't like the fact that I can't control the picture modes with my computer (currently an iMac), and that if this one button (which will get used a lot) fails, the monitor is toast. Time will tell how robust this switch is and consequently how good this monitor is. It is for this reason that I rate this monitor only as good rather than excellent.

Is there a built in camera on the 27uk850 model? Also, I have attached the monitor to my Mac pro via HDMI. I have encountered a couple of problems. The monitor won't recognize my Keyboard when I plug the usb into the monitor.

Asked by: Mauy
Hi there. This model does not have a built-in camera, this is to keep the seamless thinness of the bezel. Also support should be able to troubleshoot with you on your connection, you can chat live here: https://www.lg.com/us/support, direct message them on facebook or twitter at: (LGUSSUPPORT) or call 1-800-243-0000. ^CJ

Hooked up w/USB-C cable to my Macbook Pro 16" to 27UL850. Colors are true on MBP but on LG, reds and orange are neon in color. If I switch to HDMI, colors look good. Is monitor faulty with USB-C or Do I not know how to configure? Tried vivid in setttings.

Asked by: Perplexed Business Guy
Same for me with Mac and USB-C -- I turned off the HDR and the neon colors calmed down to normal.

If I plug in my laptop to the USB-C port of the monitor and the picture is at max quality (4k at 60 hz), will the other USB-A ports on the monitor continue to function at USB 3 speeds, or are they downgraded to USB 2.0?

Asked by: Jrdavis
USB upstream and downstream ports usually refer to ports on a USB hub. An upstream port connects to the host device (PC) while the downstream ports are where you plug in peripheral devices (thumb drives, printers, etc.). On the LG 27'' Class 4K UHD IPS LED Monitor with HDR 10 (27'' Diagonal), Model # 27UK850-W, the USB Upstream port is the USB-C port. A powered USB hub will not affect the performance of the devices connected to it (ie. it will not make them transfer any faster). However, If you have several higher powered USB devices trying to work off a non-powered USB hub (a USB hub that only gets its power from the USB port on your PC, which is relatively low), then those devices can fail to work, as they don't have enough power to run them. Non-Powered USB Hubs are more for low power draw devices. But if your talking about performance being transfer speed, then no (unless it doesn't work at all). All devices connected through a USB hub share the bandwidth available to that hub. if you use a USB 3.0 port with a USB 2.0 device, the transfer speed will only top out at 480 Mb/s...^IFV
