What People Are Saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Was great when I first got it.... When I first got it, it was a dream come true however, features slowly vanished from this once amazing tv set. The 3d app that came with the tv was discontinued so the 3d movies that they offered disappeared, then the tv stopped giving the channel information. The tv guide stopped working and later on. Just a little while ago, I had thick dark lines on the middle and right sides of the screen. Now finally it doesnt show a picture at all, just sound. While I was very happy with this tv for a while, the set lasted about 4 years. Now ill either have to repair it or get a new one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GREAT TV Its a great TV. But is not a good smartTV, there is no more updates for it. So now i just use it for gaming. The browser is slow and most of the apps are outdated or don't work. i was able to stream movies from the internet when i bought it and after one update i could not stream from any site.

Can i watch regular cable with out the internet

Asked by: Jj Denton
The television *does* have a tuner, you just won't be able to use if for OTA programming because the database to run the channel scan is no longer updated. If you have a cable box that you can connect to the television using HDMI, then yes, you can watch cable that way, you just won't be able to use the built-in tuner for anything the cable box doesn't handle.

Canceled my cable service and tried to connect an tv antenna to the tv and it would not work .It didnt show me anything Can I put an antenna to this tv? It was saying something about built -in antenna but would not connect it

Asked by: Kat128
It doesn't connect because LG is no longer updating the database needed to run the channel scan. Without running the channel scan you can't setup the tuner, and without the tuner you can't watch OTA TV. Amber must not realize this. Yes, LG left you completely hanging with a television you cannot use, hard to believe, but it's true.

Can we get latest updates for this TV ? We are not able to install most of the latest Apps. Seriously disappointed with this high cost TV with no use other than screen sharing and youtube.

Asked by: SuryaSoma
Hi SuryaSoma. We sympathize with your disappointment about not being able to install most of the latest apps on your LG 55" Class Cinema 3D LED Google TV (54.6" diagonally), Model # 55GA7900 and fully understand your disappointment. This TV used the Google TV platform and regrettably, Google TV Development support ended in January of 2015 when Google announced in a statement that Google TV it would no longer support the platform since its successor, Android TV, had been launched and that most Google TV devices would not support the new platform nor would Developer resources for Google TV be any longer available...^IFV

I have a 55GA7900 TV. Can I mirror my cell phone screen on it? I can't find instructions in the owner's manual.

Asked by: MJJ224
This TV has MHL: Mobile High-definition Link (MHL) is an interface for transmitting digital audiovisual signals from mobile phones to television sets. Page 25 in the manual: Connect the mobile phone to the HDMI IN 4 (MHL) port to view the phone screen on the TV. > This only works for the MHL-enabled phone. > With some MHL supporting mobile phones, you can use the TV remote to control the phone. > An MHL passive cable is needed to connect the TV and a mobile phone. ^AC
