What people are saying
Rated 1 out of 5 by from GREAT TV, POOR LIFE SPAN Was extremely happy for 14 months, till it died. Less then two months after the warranty expired.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great big screen This makes number 4 for me know. I bought this one for the master bedroom and could not be happier. My girlfriend thought it was going to be way too big for the room, since we were replacing a 26". To her surprise she loved more then I do. LG is the only appliance or electronic I will probably ever buy. Thir sound systems are just as good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Plasma TV First time with a smart TV. Don't really need or use all apps. Had to have another plasma. Wish they made it in a 55" model. I would get the 60" model if I could do it over again. The 50" is not that much different than the 42" I had before. Great picture. Don't really like having to constantly find the right picture size option for different programs. Some programs never display quite true to size, dimensionally. Would buy another LG in an instant.

How can I order a replacement bulb for this tv

Asked by: Tommy Padgett
We appreciate your interest in this television. Plasma TVs do not have bulbs that might need replacement. Each individual pixel generates its own light when electricity is applied. If the TV does not light, then it will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair/support-repair-provider-lookup.jsp.

How can I clean the screen on a 49UB8500 TV....I used the cloth that came with it.  Now it looks awful and you can see what looks like film or something on the whole screen

Another question for LGJoel....THANKS!!

Thanks Joel for all your help but I just want to make sure. It arrives tomorrow and I can set the TV to whatever I want, right? Widescreen, contrast of 100, brightness of 60 and black as dark as I want right? Just as long as my TV is on 4 hours a day or less this is no problem right? Thanks for helping me. I wont bug you again!
Asked by: HelloThere
Hi, thanks for reaching out to us again, please feel free to ask any questions you might have anytime you have them, you're definitely not bothering me, glad that I could help in some way. As for your settings, you may not need to have the contrast up at 100, at least not just yet (that's part of that breaking in process) Speaking of that, one way that people use to break the TV in sooner than the recommended 100 to 200 hours is to just have the TV on, on a pure white screen, but you really do not have to go to that extent. If I may, I would suggest you try the contrast at 50/60 for the break in process, but if that isn't to your liking, push it up to where you're comfortable. You're right, 4 hours isn't excessive and is unlikely to do anything to the set...^IFV

Do I need to do a break in on this plasma?

I just bought but nobody seems to know for sure. If I do need to please tell me how I beg you!! Thanks!

Just watching the LG 50" Class (49.9" Diagonal) 1080p Smart Plasma TV, Model # 50PB6650 in the normal way that you would watch any other TV is breaking it in. When they suggest that you always watch the TV in full screen is because if you have the letter boxing (i.e. the black frames or gray frames around the picture when not in full screen) on for too long (i.e. more than 4 hours continuously and frequently) you might get image retention, but the TV is equipped with methods to clean that up for you. Burn in on the other hand is more severe and depending on the severity of the burn in, it can be permanent, but that is something that you're not likely to have happen from watching regular TV. Typically the TV needs about 100 to 200 hours to break in, but again, just enjoy your TV and don't fret too much about that. If you were going to have the TV calibrated, calibrators will advise you to break it it for 100 to 200 hours. The truth is, unless you plan on doing something abnormal with your TV right as you get it, you don't need to do anything special to break in a plasma. Just watch the TV. That's it. Watching regular content will age the TV perfectly well, and after 100 or 200 hours, the TV should be "broken in" plenty enough that you shouldn't have to think anything else about other than how awesome it is...^IFV

Guys, I beg for some help on this plasma PLEASE!!!

This is my first plasma and I have no idea how to break in or use. First I've read online guidelines that say to ALWAYS watch shows in full-screen never widescreen with a plasma. Then to never have contrast above 50%. Please, I beg you....tell me exactly how to break in and how to use the TV after the break in. Thank you so much!! -Bill

Does this TV offer an IR extender option?

I just bought the LG NB3530A Sound Bar and when placed in front of my TV because I use the TV stand I cannot get the IR to work because the IR port on the TV is covered up by the sound bar. What should I do? Is there an accessory to help with this issue?
Asked by: jberenyi
I apologize, but no; this television has not been designed with a control port for use with an Infrared extender. One device or another will have to be maneuvered to where there control signal can be received properly.
