Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 65UF8500 Great 4k and 3D Upgraded my LG 55LA6200 to the LG 65UF8500. Noticeable difference in color obviously as it IS 4K. The picture is great. There's no HDR or Dolby Vision with this model BUT it does have the 3D. The 3D on this set is BEAUTIFUL! Flicker free, crystal clear and 3D great depth. I upgraded the LG 47LH30 TV in my bedroom to a Sony XBR 55X930D. Beautiful HDR picture and 3D but the Active 3D IS TERRIBLE! It flickers and turns off with both Generic and Sony Active 3 glasses. Passive 3D is definitely better. My goal was to find an affordable 4K, Passive 3D LG tv. This was just in my price range with a local seller. . I have an Xbox One X and Amazon Fire TV (2017) connected for my 4k content andthe picture is fabulous. The Fire TV outputs all content in 4K beautifully on this set, either with native 4k content or upscaled Full Hd. Great options for the price. The Next LG model with both 4K and HDR is the 60 UH8500 priced over $1000 more than what I paid for this 4K, 240Hz, 3D set. Not quite sure HDR is worth it yet. 3D Tv are no longer made and I prefer my 3D movies over regular so I'll have to pick up the LG OLED 3D model this year before they become extinct. In Summary: Awesome TV for the price and features.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall solid TV First LG TV I've owned and it's very good. Great picture, easy menus. Only issue I'm having is with the remote resyncing with the TV. I really like the remote when it worked, just haven't been able to get it working again yet. Otherwise I really like the TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning picture Grommit. Upgraded from a 55" LG its the 3d that is the best no flickering from the glasses. Everyone complains about the flickering on active TVs think its that that has destroyed 3d. Stunning picture colours rich and bright. Couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic TV I bought this a couple of months ago when my LG Plasma finally died. I had such a good experience with my other LG set for something like 6 years I didn't really bother looking at other brands for the main set in our home. I couldn't be happier with this TV. Really to even call it a TV does it a disservice as it does so much more. I want to throw stuff from my cell TV 2-3 clicks it's easy.

Hi there I bought an active 3 d glasses for my  LG But i can’t pair with my tv it say say in the glasses instructions that the tv need s a 3D active function you know if this model has that function thanks

Asked by: Tlapas
Active 3D glasses will not work with the LG 4K UHD Smart LED TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65UF8500. This TV uses Passive 3D technology so you will need a pair of passive 3D glasses like the ones that originally came with the unit...^IFV

Unfortunately movers shattered my tv screen and I need to find a replacement. Since this specific model is discontinued, what would be the best tv to replace this model with as far as similar features are concerned?

Asked by: Brynn
Hi Brynn. We regret to read about your TV screen being shattered by the movers. The LG 4K UHD Smart LED TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65UF8500 is a 2015 model and a lot has changed in TVs since this model was released, like support for HDR and some new innovations so the features will not be that similar. This TV was replaced by the 65UH8500 the following year which featured HDCP 2.2 compliant HDMI ports, an updated webOS TV platform (webOS 3.0), an updated Sound System, Super Mastering Engine, and a newer version of the LG Magic Remote. This was then replaced by the 65SJ8500 in 2017 which again, updated the webOS TV platform to version 3.5, added Nano Cell™ Display technology, support for Active HDR (HDR-10 and HLG HDR) and Dolby Vision™, support for the Sling TV app, the YouTube TV app and the Xfinity streaming app. 2018 didn't have a direct replacement, but the closest version that replaced the 2017 model is the 65SK8000PUA which adds HULU Live, Control4® Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) technology, support Advanced HDR by Technicolor®, including support for HDR10, HLG HDR, and Dolby Vision®, LG's ThinQ® AI with Google Assistant built in, compatibility with Google Home and Amazon Alexa devices, LG's α7 Intelligent Processor, Dolby Atmos® and Nano Cell™ Color Display technology...^IFV

I just recently noticed that on 07/12/18 there was either a firmware or software update to my 60 uf8500. I was wondering what the update was for and what effect it has on my TV.

Asked by: chris ryan
The latest update for the 60UF8500 resolved an issue that was happening with some phones where an application on the phone was interacting with the TV and causing the volume level to drop to 0. ^CP

Does this tv have Dolby vision?

Asked by: NickF
Hi NickF. Regrettably, the LG 4K UHD Smart LED TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65UF8500 does not support HDR at all. It's a 2015 TV that was released well before HDR Standards were set so it does not support HDR10 or Dolby Vision...^IFV

This tv is not HDR capable correct?

Asked by: Foot1059
That is correct. The LG 4K UHD Smart LED TV - 60" Class (59.5" Diag), Model # 60UF8500 was released long before HDR standards were set and so it does not support HDR...^IFV
