What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constant error of UE - uneven load Throughout my 4 year life cycle with this machine, I was frustrated with the constant error message UE. I followed manual instructions, verified machine to be installed properly and levelled - I redistributed the same loads over and over. Eventually after many tries, the machine continued to spin and I finally finished the wash. This UE issue made one load take hours to complete. I read many consumer reviews expressing the same UE issue. Since this model has been discontinued, I suspect LG fixed the problem by dropping this model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So quiet.. This is a very nice machine. It is very quiet. In fact I keep checking to see if it is still running. The capacity is huge. The control panel is very intuitive as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from When working it cleans awesome Loved this washer when I first got it. After about a year and a half it stopped spinning properly. Don't know if it's a belt or bearings but for the price it should of lasted longer now it just sits to the side of my laundry room while I use an old fashion small agitating machine that I can't put blankets in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cleans so much better than my other 2 front loader I have had this a few weeks.I have owned 2 other front loaders from different companies. This cleans so much better than my other 2,in fact from day 1 both had not cleaned well and I was ready to go back to a top loader but when I went on line to read about the washers they were all saying the front loaders clean better so I decided to try one more time.I am so glad I did.It cleans the close unbelievably well and with such a small amount of detergent. It is big inside,5.2,which I really need because I have 5 children. If I needed a dryer I would buy the matching one.I do wish that I could choose any water temperature with any cycle, but this one is much more flexible than my other 2.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hasn't lasted very long We have owned this washer for almost 5 yrs. Since Dec 2017 the machine sounds like it is going to take off, a very loud roar when going through the spin cycles. We have an extended warranty on the machine and its a good thing we did. Service tech came out and replaced a few parts and the problem is still there. The warranty companies stated they are not going to repair it, not economical, so they have offered a cash settlement. I am leery of buying another LG product. We also have the matching dryer which is also presenting problems, the board and belt are being replaced.

is there an app that can tell your phone load is done

Asked by: christop
The WM8000HVA does not have an application available that can provide a notification for when the cycle is complete. ^CP

After the wash cycle is complete, we leave the front door ajar (slightly) to air out the washer (to prevent mildew). During this time water drips from the front door on to the floor. What part(s) need to be replaced to fix this.  The washer is 4yrs old.

Does the washer not fill up with water fully?

Asked by: Thais
Hello, it does not. Front load washers work by filling the bottom of the inner and outer tub with a small amount of water and using the rotation of the tub and gravity to move the clothes through the water. The rotation action is similar to the tumbling action found in a clothes dryer. The side paddles on the inside drum lift the clothes and move them in and out of the water. This provides the mechanical action (scrubbing) needed to remove soil from fabric. This type of mechanical wash action does not require that the clothes be surrounded by water at all times, which is why front load washers use so much less water than a standard top loader. And, of course, with less water you should use less detergent and one without lots of bubbles to prevent over-sudsing and residue left in clothes. ^AC

Washer is reading CL what does tht meN

Asked by: Mikeymelissa
The "CL" code that is showing on the display for your ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam™ Technology, Model # WM8000HVA is indicating that the Child Lock has been activated. Pressing and holding the Rinse + Spin/Child Lock button for three seconds while a wash cycle is running activates this feature and a CL message and the remaining wash time are displayed, in turn, on the display panel of the washing machine. This feature locks the washing machine to prevent children or others from changing the cycle settings and the only button that will work is the power button. Even after the wash cycle ends and the machine turns off, this feature is still active and has to be turned off for you to need to use any other functions other than power On/Off. Pressing and holding the Rinse + Spin/Child Lock button for three seconds after turning the machine on deactivates it. You can find these instructions on page 28 of your owner's manual...^IFV

Can you safely  and efficiently and wash a queen size comforter in this machine

Asked by: VLCS
The general consensus of most Washing Machine buying guides is that a capacity of 3.2 cubic feet will accommodate a queen size and a capacity of 3.7 cubic feet will accommodate a king size comforter, so the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam Technology, Model # WM8000HWA has a large enough capacity to accommodate a queen size comforter comfortably. Not all comforters require the same care. A home washer and dryer may be able to handle a thin comforter, but a thick, fluffy comforter may require special cleaning. Review the washing instructions on your queen-size comforter, as some may be made of special fabric or filling that requires dry cleaning or other special care...^IFV
