What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lifespend Just like any other LG life spent is ~5 years. It’s falling apart like “Chinese motorcycle“ after 5. Drain pumps and rear bearings are most common.this is second out of 3 sets that we had and first one broke in 5 years now second one is almost one.maybe I need to switch to different brand Otherwise it’s OK.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! Great washer I bought this washer and matching dryer in Aug of '15. I absolutely love them both. There are many options and features. Love the steam clean for pillows and down comforters. I have had zero problems with either appliance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great washer ( if you know how to use it) This washer has been excellent to us. I have 3 kids under 3 and do a LOT of laundry. I love the capacity. I think a lot of people who have problems with this (or any front loader) just fundamentally don't understand how HE machines work. A standard agitator machine uses a lot of water and mechanical agitation to get clothes clean. HE machines, largely rely on the friction of the clothes against themselves to create agitation. So adding more water or not filling the machine appropriately (more than half full at least) can lead to not enough agitation. Also, there is no reason to use LESS detergent. Modern detergents are designed to rinse away completely, regardless even in HE machines. Any detergent that tells you to use less in an HE machine is not truly formulated to work well in one. In 10 years of owning HE machines, I've never had mold.mildew. Leave the door open between cycles, wipe down the seal weekly, run a clean cycle monthly.

is there an app that can tell your phone load is done

Asked by: christop
The WM8000HVA does not have an application available that can provide a notification for when the cycle is complete. ^CP

After the wash cycle is complete, we leave the front door ajar (slightly) to air out the washer (to prevent mildew). During this time water drips from the front door on to the floor. What part(s) need to be replaced to fix this.  The washer is 4yrs old.

Does the washer not fill up with water fully?

Asked by: Thais
Hello, it does not. Front load washers work by filling the bottom of the inner and outer tub with a small amount of water and using the rotation of the tub and gravity to move the clothes through the water. The rotation action is similar to the tumbling action found in a clothes dryer. The side paddles on the inside drum lift the clothes and move them in and out of the water. This provides the mechanical action (scrubbing) needed to remove soil from fabric. This type of mechanical wash action does not require that the clothes be surrounded by water at all times, which is why front load washers use so much less water than a standard top loader. And, of course, with less water you should use less detergent and one without lots of bubbles to prevent over-sudsing and residue left in clothes. ^AC

Washer is reading CL what does tht meN

Asked by: Mikeymelissa
The "CL" code that is showing on the display for your ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam™ Technology, Model # WM8000HVA is indicating that the Child Lock has been activated. Pressing and holding the Rinse + Spin/Child Lock button for three seconds while a wash cycle is running activates this feature and a CL message and the remaining wash time are displayed, in turn, on the display panel of the washing machine. This feature locks the washing machine to prevent children or others from changing the cycle settings and the only button that will work is the power button. Even after the wash cycle ends and the machine turns off, this feature is still active and has to be turned off for you to need to use any other functions other than power On/Off. Pressing and holding the Rinse + Spin/Child Lock button for three seconds after turning the machine on deactivates it. You can find these instructions on page 28 of your owner's manual...^IFV

Can you safely  and efficiently and wash a queen size comforter in this machine

Asked by: VLCS
The general consensus of most Washing Machine buying guides is that a capacity of 3.2 cubic feet will accommodate a queen size and a capacity of 3.7 cubic feet will accommodate a king size comforter, so the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with Steam Technology, Model # WM8000HWA has a large enough capacity to accommodate a queen size comforter comfortably. Not all comforters require the same care. A home washer and dryer may be able to handle a thin comforter, but a thick, fluffy comforter may require special cleaning. Review the washing instructions on your queen-size comforter, as some may be made of special fabric or filling that requires dry cleaning or other special care...^IFV
