What people are saying

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won’t purchase a front loading washer again Just one month before the extended warranty expired, the washer require four different parts replaced - a stator, motor, main rubber gasket and door locking mechanism. While it does use less water than top load machines, it’s just not worth the knotted mess of clothes that result after washing. I even used the technician’s suggestion to wad EACH piece of clothing up before placing it in the washer. If I’m doing a load a pajama tops and bottoms, or long sleeve shirts and pants, I have to untie almost everything from the most amazing set of knots the machine has created. If you have items that you don’t want stretched out, you’ve been warned. As recommended I leave the washer door open to dry it out and I’ve used chlorine bleach on “Machine cleaning mode” but I can’t get rid of the musty smell. This was a very expensive machine and I am so disappointed in its performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best appliance purchase I've ever made I bought the washer & dryer a couple of years ago and I am still excited by the load capacity of these machines. I almost choked when I first purchased them due to their cost but we literally due half as many loads as we did with our older front loaders. My wife does hair so we do a LOT of towels, etc.

What is the maximum water supply temp to connect this washer too?

Asked by: Rob2014
The maximum water supply temperature that your can connect the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 5.2 cu. ft. Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with NFC Tag On, Model # WM8500HVA to will depend on what your water heater is set to. Whether you have a gas or electric water heater, the default temperature set from the factory will be between 120ºF to 140ºF. It is estimated that the average water heater temperature is set to 130ºF in the United States. 130ºF is the best temperature to set your water heater as it will reduce the risk of scalding while showering but also be hot enough to meet your dishwasher and washing machines recommended temperature for an optimum wash cycle. The owner's manual for this washer also recommends that to provide optimum washing performance the hot water temperature should be set at 120-135°F (48-57°C) and the cold at 60°F (15°C)...^IFV

What is NFC Tag on?

Asked by: Gabroney
The NFC Tag On feature you see on the LG Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer with NFC Tag On, Model # WM8500HVA can also be found on select LG Dryers. It allows you to conveniently add on new cycles, check the status of your appliance or diagnose your appliance all from your phone. Your phone needs to support NFC, most newer Android phones have this feature. iPhones do not support NFC. The feature can be activated on your phone through settings, usually under the "Wireless & Networks" menu, but your phone may be different so you would have to refer to the manual to find out where it is and how to activate it properly...^IFV

Does it clean itself?

I want to know if the machine tub cleans itself? Does it have the self clean option?
Asked by: MrsAV
The Tub Clean cycle does not clean itself and there isn't a self clean option for it on the LG Mega Capacity TurboWash™ Washer w/ NFC Tag On, Model # WM8500HVA. For an effective clean, it is recommended that you add tub cleaner or lime scale remover to the detergent dispenser drawer, then after turning the unit on, to turn the cycle selector knob to Tub Clean. A 't cL' message appears in the display then after the indicator light for Tub Clean turns on, you would push the Start/Pause button to initiate the cycle...^IFV

How do I get the drum light to stay on longer?

Is there a way to get the drum light to stay on? I assume it does not stay on the during the entire cycle? Also when it spins there is a clicking noise. Is that normal?
Asked by: cowgirlup
The drum light is designed to automatically turn off when the door is closed and the cycle starts. Press and hold the EXTRA RINSE/DRUM LIGHT button for 3 seconds during the wash cycle for a 4 minute illumination during operations. There is no method for increasing this time frame.
