What People Are Saying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Power packed device I bought this device on Google's Project Fi awhile ago. Besides the rather small 6GB on board with no SD-card option, it's a great all-round device. Screen resolution isn't super but stands against competitors pretty well, even in sunlight. The only achilles heel of this device is the motherboard issues sme customers, including myself have faced. Great to have a customer-centric company like LG doing it's best to replace them for free even outside of the warranty period.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bootloop issue I bought LG nexus 5 in 2015 and my phone just recently went blank and inactive with google logo showing. Never had a phone have such issues even the cheapest ones. Lg should provide guidelines on repairing and fixing the bootloop issue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it until it died This *was* a great phone. I bought mine 3 years ago and it just died without warning. the only issue I had with it is that it liked to overheat, usually when I was using it as a GPS in my car. I absolutely loved this phone but unfortunately I got the bootloop problem many other users talk about. My phone doesn't come on and has the red light of death. If it comes on, it gets stuck on the google logo. Sad, sad. I really loved this phone and wish I could replace it with another Nexus but it just seems too risky not knowing when they die, you know? I lost all my contacts and pictures, everything is gone. Lesson learned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great phone until it died... I purchased this in April 2016 to use with Project Fi, and I absolutely loved it until it died. The camera takes great photos and the appearance is sleek, with many desirable high-end features at this price point (e.g., USB-C rapid charging, fingerprint reader, notification light). Unfortunately the phone is subject to a known hardware failure and the phone gets stuck in a bootloop, at which point you're forced to send it off to be repaired. This has been my favorite smartphone of the few I've owned so far and I'm sad that the bootlooping issue is most likely destined to happen eventually to my replacement. If you can get it for cheap, it's probably worth picking up, but know that it'll most likely die on you so keep your files backed up!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 2 more phones die with boot loop issue I've had 4 Nexus 5X devices in my family now. I loved the phone, but they just keep dying. The first one died with the infamous boot loop issue 11 months after purchasing it new - at the time LG and Google would do nothing, but Amazon honored their 1 year warranty and issued a refund. I replaced that phone with another 5X for my daughter that is starting to show some strange issues, but hasn't died yet. However, two weeks ago my wife's 5X died with the boot loop issue and then a few days later my 5X died with the same issue. Both are now long out of warranty. Is LG still honoring their replace/refund for these devices? It seems crazy that they haven't just done a global voluntary recall on this. Hone up to the issue already!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Google's final batch of Nexus handsets comes in two sizes, and the 5.2-inch Nexus 5X is for those non-giants out there who literally can't handle a 5.7-inch Nexus 6P or its 6-inch Nexus 6 predecessor. The Nexus 5X is more than just a compact phone at a smaller price, though. Its 12.3MP camera is able to capture low-light photos, and the specs are still fast enough for the average user. Its reversible USB Type-C port provides quick charging, the fingerprint sensor is yet another way to effortless unlock your phone and swipe to pull down your notification panel. And possibly best of all, it's ready to go with Android's latest iteration, Android Oreo.
