Only thing is that I got it from Sprint, and they don't allow updates to Android 10 while the other companies are probably on 12. Please, add the Android 10 update.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Android 10 Uppgrade!! I bought this from B&H Photo thinking not buying a Carrier based phone was a smart future proof decision. WRONG!! This version of the v40 is the only model NOT updated to Android 10. I contact customer support and was told it would be but it never happened. Every carrier version was updated though. This kind of customer service has made question to ever buy any LG product.

Could LM-V405UA be unlocked? If YES, will it work with other GSM carriers such as T-Mobile and MINT Mobile? Which version of LG V40 is recommended for use with MINT Mobile?

I have this model previously on AT&T and unlocked. I use it on Red Pocket mobile an MVNO on AT&T network. Works great except no tethering or Hotspot. AT&T locks tethering in their custom firmware installed on their branded phones. Tethering lock is unaffected by phone unlock.

Will this phone be Volte compatible

Hi Tim0239. As the name suggests, Voice over LTE (VoLTE) is what happens when your carrier allows you to place a phone call over your LTE connection instead of the older legacy voice networks. Here in the U.S., most carriers have rolled out the red carpet for Voice over LTE. AT&T relied on a combination of LTE for data and HSPA+ for calls and would drop down to a 3G signal when talking to someone on the other line. With VoLTE, neither of these scenarios is necessary anymore. Most carriers refer to VoLTE as HD Voice for marketing reasons, as it points to its increased fidelity compared to a traditional cell call. Wi-Fi calling tech is nearly identical to HD Voice from the user's perspective in that it uses a Wi-Fi data connection to complete the call instead of LTE data. On the LG V40, you can ThinQ™ | AT&T, Model # LMV405UA use Wi-Fi calling to improve your coverage and to make phone calls over a Wi-Fi network when the network is available, but it does not have a setting for VoLTE...^IFV
