What people are saying

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It controls my Yamaha receiver LG OLED - great picture, easy to navigate. LG could provide better Owner's Manual for us non-millennials and how to set it up from removing it from the box. Only issue I have found with no solution is the LG controls my Yamaha receiver (for surround sound). When turned on, the LG TV switches the receiver from HDMI2 (ARC) input with STB Refsw Desi displayed on receiver for 2 seconds with picture and sound to an Audio input channel with no sound but with picture. Yamaha techs (3) tell me it is the LG controlling the receiver and they can do nothing about it. (Same thing happens with Samsung TVs, they said.) I get sound and picture by manually switching input on the receiver remote to STB Refsw Desi display for HDMI2 input .

Does this tv supports 4k120hz resolutions?

Asked by: Anonymous
Refresh rate is an LED/LCD specification. OLED's have a native 120 Hertz panel and have a refresh rate of as low as 0.001 ms which for reference is around 1,000 times faster than a standard LED/LCD panel. ^CP

Last year's B8 (a7 processor) TV could not support HDR and HFR simultaneously; is this still the case with the B9 (a7 gen-2 processor)?

Asked by: sebi19
The 2018 LG B8PUA 4K HDR Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® - 55'' Class (54.6'' Diag), Model # OLED55B8PUA featured HDMI 2.0 ports & because of the α7 Intelligent Processor, it cannot playback content that's both HFR and HDR (high dynamic range). It can handle any other combination of frame rate, resolution and HDR, however, including 4K HFR without HDR, and 2K (1080p) HFR with HDR, and because it doesn't feature HDMI 2.1 ports, it cannot handle HFR from external devices via the HDMI ports, only via streaming or over-the-air broadcasts or USB port. The 2019 LG B9 55 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV w/AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # OLED55B9PUA features full spec HDMI 2.1 ports that allow the HDMI ports to carry up to 48 Gbps (gigabits per second) of data, roughly 2.6 times the capacity of the current HDMI 2.0. That extra bandwidth opens the floodgates for higher frame rates and resolutions, like 4K at 120 frames per second or 8K at 60 frames per second, but you will need to buy new HDMI 2.1 cables to pass the higher-bandwidth sources...^IFV
