What makes OLED unlike anything else?

The answer is self-lit pixels. A self-luminous display technology that makes all the difference to your viewing experience. Unlike LED/LCD TVs that are restricted by backlight technology, LG OLED TVs are capable of extreme realism and thin designs.

I live in Minnesota and prefer to support local businesses. When will the OLED65C1PUB be available in Best Buy and Target stores?

Asked by: Satori834
The LG C1 65 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV w/AI ThinQ® (65.4'' Diag), Model # OLED65C1PUB was released on 03/22 and is currently available through a few online retailers. Regrettably, the 'Where to Buy' button on the TV's product detail page only shows a list of online sites that currently have the TV in stock and it is not yet giving a listing of local retailers who will be selling the TV. That means that the listing for local retailers has not yet been finalized. The 'Where to Buy' button uses your IP address to locate stores in your geographical area that will be selling the TV. When those retailers receive their inventory on the TV, they will report back to us and there will be an indication on the listing to show if the TV is in stock or not. You can try contacting Best Buy or Target to inquire if they have an ETA for when they expect to have the TV available...^IFV

I am hearing reports that the C1 2.1 HDMI inputs are limited to only 40 GPS and not the full 48 GPS as a 2.1 HDMI standard should be. Is this true?

Asked by: JEP10
Regrettably, we currently cannot verify reports that you are hearing about what bandwidth the HDMI ports on the LG C1 55 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # OLED55G1PUA, however, if true, there is a good reason for limiting the bandwidth for the HDMI 2.1 ports. Our 2019 models carried 'full bandwidth' HDMI ports capable of handling HDMI 2.1’s maximum 48Gbps data rate. The 48Gbps rate is required to handle uncompressed 12-bit 4K at 120Hz with RGB 4:4:4 chroma sampling. However, the market situation evolution indicated that real content that requires 48Gbps is not available in the market, and based on that market situation, we decided to re-allocate the hardware resources of 2020 chipsets optimizing for AI functions including CPU & GPU and supporting full bandwidth in only 2 ports of 2020 8K TV series (ZX series, NANO99, NANO97, NANO95). And the rest of the ports of 8K TVs and all HDMI 2.1 ports of 4K TVs have lower bandwidth of 40 Gbps but support up to 4K 120P 4:4:4/RGB 10-bit. This allowed our 2020 models with the lower bandwidth to deliver better performance through the ‘intelligent’ automatic audio and visual adjustment systems by taking processing capacity away from the HDMI 2.1 inputs and making it available to the TVs’ AI systems instead. The decision was made because there’s little evidence of sources arriving that will take advantage of the full 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 data rate capacity. Only two of the HDMIs on our 2020 8K OLED and LCD TVs are full bandwidth 48Gbps connections capable of 12-bit 8K/60Hz at 4:2:0 YCbCr, and the other two HDMI ports top out at 10-bit. Currently, there is no certainty about the absolute maximum potential output capability of the next generation of consoles, and a TV being able to support 10-bit 4K at 120Hz with 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 should be enough to get the job done. Even if a game was potentially able to up its output to 12-bit, it’s highly debatable that you would see a visible difference given that all TVs are currently only 10-bit. It makes more of a visible difference with the extra power we're making available to the video processing systems by limiting the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth...^IFV

Asked by: GWPA
That *Not supported on streaming content is referring to the FILMMAKER MODE™ on the LG C1 55 inch Class 4K Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® (54.6'' Diag), Model # OLED55C1PUB which turns off motion smoothing while preserving the original aspect ratios, colors, and frame rates. This accurately delivers the director's original vision, so you experience the film the way they intended.
