What people are saying
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Has been problematic since day 1 We purchased this unit 5+ years ago, and although it hasn’t “broken” it absolutely has not worked as expected. Despite the high capacity, the machine cannot wash large loads. Even the smallest of loads has to be monitored and adjusted due to being uneven. It takes a full day to wash and dry 3 loads, leaves spots on clothes, and clothes come out twisted and bound. This not only wears the fabrics, but prevents proper rinsing. The fact that unit cannot ever be balanced entirely defeats the purpose of a high efficiency unit. It will try to rinse and adjust, have to be adjusted, repeat step one, repeat step two. There is no way this is saving water, and is completely frustrating. The uneven code comes on during a tub clean cycle when there is nothing in the washer, seriously? Don’t make the same mistake we have. This thing flat out sucks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs full-time attention The machine does not get the laundry clean; the standard water level is so low that the same piece of clothing stays on top for a full cycle; if a cycle gets completed by itself, that is. 99 times out of a 100 the machine cannot manage to spin and starts wasting water (if it gets out of balance it tries to fill the drum with water, i guess to re-shuffle the laundry in the hope it might be in balance then. That usually does not work, and it starts beeping and displaying UE (uneven load) It is almost impossible to get a load finished without manually re-arranging wet laundry. (I had to wash three loads today, took 7h to complete (I could not just stand by to rearrange laundry). DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Rusted in second year We bought this washer in September 2012 and noticed rust accumulating around the bleach dispenser sometime in the second or third year. We have noticed there are possibly some class action suits regarding this issue as it seems to be universal to this model. The issue is just now becoming a problem with rust flakes getting in our laundry. We will not purchase LG again.

I have a WT5070CW. Had it since 07/03/2012. About 6 to 8 months ago when the drum turns it would squeal. 2 days ago it started banging loud noises when drum starts to spin then the bottom plate stops. what could be the problem do you think?

Asked by: skidd
Hi skidd. We regret to read about the issues that you are currently experiencing with your ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 4.7 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity High Efficiency Top Load Washer with WaveForce™, Model # WT5070CW. The machine will need to be inspected to determine what is causing it to making those loud banging noises when it goes into the spin cycle because it could be a number of things. The most common cause for a washing machine making banging noises when it goes into a spin cycle is usuallu due to worn tub bearings. Other causes may be due to the tub seal and bearing kit needing to be replaced, the Rear Drum with bearing might need to be replaced, the bearings might be worn out and several other causes. Check to make sure that nothing is caught in the drain pump as that also will cause loud noises. You can contact our Support Center at (800) 243-0000 for assistance in making arrangements for a repair service or visit us at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair-service/schedule-repair-us to submit an online request for one...^IFV

Why does my washer only use hot/warm water even when set to cold? I've checked both water lines and they are working and hooked up correctly.

Asked by: Serena918
Hello, we know you stated you checked, but please recheck the hoses at the home valve and the back of the washer (our hot and cold inlet valves are on opposite sides than other brands). It is NORMAL for the unit to use some hot water even on a cold wash setting. It does this minimally in order to activate detergent, UNLESS the TAP COLD wash/rinse temp is selected. If the unit is really only drawing hot and not mixing hot with cold and the hoses are not reversed, there could be a problem with the inlet valve. If this is the case, please call us at 1-800-243-0000. ^AC

Are you able to leave soap in tjisnone and it automatically dispenses? If so, how much do you out in and when do you knownifit needs more?

Asked by: Michellerr
The Detergent Compartment in the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 4.7 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity High-Efficiency Top Load Washer with WaveForce™, Model # WT5070CW has a maximum detergent limit line in it that you should not exceed when filling it with detergent. You should never exceed the manufacturer's recommendations about how much detergent to use and you will find their recommendations on the packaging for that detergent. All the detergent you use for each load will be fully used up so you will need to fill the detergent for each load. This washer is specially designed to only use HE (High-Efficiency detergent) and because detergents come in varying concentrations, it is imperative that you follow their recommendations on how much to use...^IFV
