The OLED55A1PUA is a definite upgrade from our 12 year old LG television. We decided to install this tv in our master bedroom. We have been watching more movies on this tv ever since.
The 55 inch was not difficult to install on a wall mount, but it does take two people to install. Set-up was super easy. The most time consuming thing to do was sign-in to my Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts.
While browsing the LG Channels, I came across Pluto TV, which offers many channels. The best thing is these channels are free! My son really likes the TMNT channel.
There are all sorts of channels, such as a western channel, cartoon channels like Nickelodeon and Nick Jr., Spanish movie channels, and many more. There is always SOMETHING to watch. You can even download live tv channels.
The remote’s home button will make a bar pop up at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can access Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max and many other apps. There are also plenty of music channels.
As far as the picture, the OLED is a clearer, more in-depth picture. This is due to the self-lit pixels, with the tv containing millions. The resolution is 4K UHD, which is the next step up from Full HD. It has a 60 Hz refresh rate, which is great if you’re not gaming.
The tv comes with a magic remote and voice recognition, which is great for finding a certain app or show without having to type it in. You can also connect it to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. We use Alexa and you can turn the tv on or off with a smart plug. This is a pretty neat option if you don’t want to reach for the remote before you fall asleep.
The tv has nice built-in speakers, but I got the SP8YA soundbar and subwoofer with the tv, all for a discounted price as part of this review. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. I know we will definitely appreciate it in the winter, when it is cold downstairs.
