High-Resolution 21:9 Curved Monitor Combines Streamlined Multi-System Workflows, Advanced Imaging Tools and Centralized Display Management

News Summary

• LG Electronics USA is expanding its medical display portfolio with a new FDA-cleared 40-inch diagnostic monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio curved screen.

• Its expansive/display, 3PBP capability and built-in KVM switch allow radiologists to view multiple diagnostic images and patient records while controlling two PCs.

• The monitor’s calibrated sensor, specialized imaging modes and centralized management software support consistent image quality, efficient diagnostic review and reliable display performance across healthcare facilities.

LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Aug. 12, 2026 — LG Electronics USA has introduced a new 40-inch ultrawide diagnostic monitor designed to help radiologists improve efficiency and clinical productivity. The monitor, which has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance as a medical device,1 strengthens LG’s U.S. medical display portfolio and reinforces the company’s commitment to developing displays tailored to healthcare professionals.

Streamlining Radiology Workflows on One Seamless Display

LG’s new diagnostic monitor, model 40HT513D, features a 40-inch IPS Black panel with 5,120 × 2,160 resolution, offering the high level of clarity needed for medical imaging. Its expansive 21:9 aspect ratio enables users to perform tasks typically handled by three 3MP monitors on a single screen, helping streamline workflows and reduce reliance on multiple displays.

This large, unified workspace supports the simultaneous display of up to three different image sources, minimizing visual disruption from the bezels of multiple monitors. The 3 Picture-by-Picture (3PBP) setup allows radiologists to review current and prior X-ray, CT or MRI images alongside electronic medical records (EMR) on one screen, helping limit eye movement between displays and enhancing reading efficiency.

The monitor includes a built-in keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switch that enables control of two PCs through one keyboard and mouse. Users can easily shift between connected systems by moving the cursor to the edge of the display, with drag-and-drop functions available for file transfers. This integrated approach eliminates the need for separate input devices or manual data transfers, helping radiologists maintain continuity during image review.

Consistent Image Quality With Calibration and Intelligent Software

To support consistent and precise imaging, the 40HT513D includes a calibrated sensor for accurate brightness and contrast control. The sensor tip remains stored within the unit during normal use to avoid obstructing the display and is exposed only for calibration or performance measurement. Its design simplifies maintenance and management.

Complementing the calibrated sensor, the monitor offers software features that support diagnostic image review. Focus View brightens a selected area and dims surrounding regions without zooming, helping reduce distractions and highlight critical details. Pathology Mode adjusts resolution and color representation settings optimized for pathological image display, which may support clearer visualization of cellular structures.

Beyond individual workstations, LG’s proprietary software, LG Calibration Studio Medical, enables integrated management of diagnostic monitors installed throughout a healthcare facility. Through a centralized server, administrators can conduct quality assurance tests that align with medical display standards and monitor the results. The software also provides real-time alerts when display performance abnormalities (e.g., calibration or brightness deviations) are detected, allowing facilities to respond promptly and maintain consistent image quality.

“Understanding the unique demands of healthcare professionals is central to how we develop our medical display solutions,” said Jim Salamon, senior healthcare IT manager at LG Electronics USA. “This new diagnostic monitor combines the image quality, consistency and reliability needed in clinical environments, further demonstrating LG’s commitment to the healthcare vertical.”
