LG is committed to providing customers with clear and accurate information about its products and software.

 

Recent reports have raised questions about the LG Monitor App Installer. We would like to clarify how the Installer works and the updates LG has made to further enhance the customer experience.

 

The LG Monitor App Installer is a companion application designed to help customers discover LG applications and features that are compatible with their monitor. When a compatible LG monitor is connected, the Installer identifies the monitor model and presents applications supported by that model, helping customers get more value from their monitor. Applications available through the Installer may include LG Switch, OnScreen Control, LG Calibration Studio and Dual Controller, which assist with display management, productivity and customisation.

 

The LG Monitor App Installer does not collect or transmit personal information or user data from customers' devices. Monitor identification is performed locally on the user's PC, and any applications presented through the Installer are optional. Applications are only installed if the customer chooses to proceed.

 

During a limited period in the United States, the Installer included an optional recommendation for a McAfee trial. Customers could choose whether or not to install the software, and it was never installed automatically. Following customer feedback, LG removed the recommendation and does not plan to recommend McAfee or other third-party software through the Installer in future.

 

As part of its commitment to continuously improving the customer experience, LG is updating the Installer so customers can decide whether they would like to install it. This update provides greater visibility, control and choice while continuing to make it easy for customers to discover LG applications and features designed to enhance their monitor experience.

 

LG appreciates customer feedback and remains committed to delivering products, software and services that provide customers with greater value, transparency and choice.
