[LG refrigerator freezing] ice creams melt or chopped garlic thaws.

Troubleshooting

Causes and Symptoms

  • The temperature is set to High.
  • The temperature in the installation location is high.
  • The cold air circulation hole is blocked.
  • The back of the product is clogged with dust.

If the temperature inside is set to high or is changed, stored food may thaw or melt.
If you open and close the refrigerator door frequently in summer, the temperature inside may rise and the food may thaw or melt.
If food that can easily melt, such as ice cream, is stored on the door basket [stand] where cold air is weaker than cold air inside the shelf, the food may melt.
If the door was left slightly open, cold air escaped, lowering the inside temperature and causing thawing and melting.
If there is a lot of dust on the mechanical compartment cover on the back of the product and it is close to the wall, the heat generated inside the mechanical compartment may not be easily dispersed, causing food to thaw and melt.

Try this

Check the temperature setting.

➔ If the temperature of the freezer is set to [low] or [-16℃ to -17℃] , the freezer may not be cold enough and food may thaw or melt.

Set the temperature to [high] or [-22℃ to -24℃] and store the food that can easily melt, such as ice cream, in front of the top cold air outlet where strong cold air comes out.

Setting the freezer temperature
Top refrigerator bottom freezer unit
The temperature of the freezer can be set between -15°C and -23°C.
Each time you press the Freezer button, the set temperature changes by 1 degree.
If you feel that the temperature of the freezer is not cold enough, set it between -21°C and -23°C.
1. Refrigeration temperature setting 3 degrees (from 1 degrees cold to 7 degrees cold) 2. Freezing temperature setting -18 degrees (from -23 degrees cold to -15 degrees cold)

Is there a heater [heating/cooking appliance] nearby?

➔ If the installation location is exposed to direct sunlight or near a heat source, such as a gas range, the freezing function may be degraded.

If you open the refrigerator door frequently in summer, the inside temperature rises, as the effect of cold air in the freezer may be weakened.

Invalid example: a refrigerator installed next to a gas stove

Is the cold air outlet blocked?

➔ If there is a lot of food stored on the shelf, or if the cold air outlet is blocked, cold air cannot circulate and food may thaw or melt.

Store foods that can easily melt or thaw, such as ice cream and crushed garlic, near the cool air outlet [inside the refrigerator].

The appearance of the refrigerator outlet. Invalid example: the discharge port is obscured

Is the door closed properly?

➔ Do not let stored food get caught in the door and make sure to close the door tightly.

If the door is not closed completely so that cold air is able to leak, warm air from outside may flow in and the food may thaw or melt.

The door is not tightly closed, allowing fresh air to flow in

Is there a lot of dust on the mechanical compartment cover on the back of the product and is it close to the wall?

➔ Leave an appropriate gap to ensure proper ventilation, and remove dust from the mechanic room cover on the back of the product with a vacuum cleaner.

If the surroundings of the refrigerator are not well-ventilated or there is a lot of dust in the mechanical compartment at the back of the product, the freezing function may be degraded.

How to remove dust from the mechanical compartment at the back of the product
1. Pull the power cord out to prevent accidents.
Pulling the power cord out for a short period of time does not significantly affect the cold air inside the product.
2. Remove any dust from only the cover of the mechanical compartment using a vacuum cleaner.
Remove any dust from only the cover of the mechanical compartment using a vacuum cleaner.
Warning!

Do not remove the back cover [mechanical compartment cover].
Doing so may result in an accident and increase the risk of internal gas pipe damage.
Any disassembly, cleaning and reassembly in this area of the refrigerator should be carried out by a service technician through a visit.

Do you frequently open and close the freezer door?

➔ Cool hot food before putting it in the freezer, and if the ambient temperature is high, such as in summer, or there are many foods that can easy thaw or melt, do not open and close the door frequently.

Depending on the amount of food that you put in the freezer, the time required to cool the food may vary.

Is the refrigerator installed on a balcony or on a location under direct sunlight?

➔ Install the refrigerator in a place where the ambient temperature is between 5℃ and 43℃.

If the temperature of the installation location is too high or too low, it may lead to the degradation of product performance or excessive electricity bills.

Please install it in a place where the temperature around the refrigerator is 5℃ or higher and 43℃ or equal to 43℃.

After installing the product, it takes a certain amount of time to reach the normal operating temperature.

➔ When the power is connected for the first time, the cool air comes out after about 1-2 hours, but it can take 2-3 days to reach the normal operating temperature, depending on the amount of food stored.
