Rated 2 out of 5 by from Island Salt Water :( This AC unit was nice at the beginning for our 970sqft condo, but we've had it for 2.5 years and the salt water has started to corrode the outside fins. The installer thought it was weird that there wasn't a drain plug or any discussion in the manual about having it drain. It now looks like this might be related to the corrosion issue. We're not sure how much more we'll be able to use this 18000 BTU unit, so a little disappointed in this unit.

Can this model's case be installed in a Through wall manner? I currently have an old unit and its case is almost the same dimensions. Case has been externally painted to match, any chance you could provide the minimum dimensions required by Inner unit?

The LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM has a Slide In-Out Chassis that allows you to slide the unit from its chassis for ease of installation in a standard single-hung or double-hung window. The side and top louvers and all louvers of the cabinet must not be blocked and must remain exposed to the outside of the structure and unobstructed. Restriction of outside air will greatly reduce the cooling efficiency of the air conditioner to cause it to malfunction. Non-window installations, including using sleeves or wall openings, and other installation methods are not recommended...^Ivan

I have a 40" wide window, will the side curtains stretch to fit that?

Hello Serpanterra. The LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM is designed for installation in standard single or double-hung windows with actual opening widths from 29" to 41". That air conditioner has a width of 25.98" so when it is placed centrally in your 40" opening, you will have openings of 7.01" on either side of the air conditioner. The curtains are designed to cover an opening of 41" which means they will cover up to 7.51" on either side of the air conditioner after installation so they will adequately cover your 40" opening...^IFV

Why is It that when my AC is on energy saver it only shuts completely down if the temperature is set above 75. At 75 degrees on energy saver the unit continues to run never shuting off.

I have the same problem, the temp setting has to be above 76 or 77 for the unit to shut down.

Help. Have a lg ac inverter.  The control does not communicate with unit.  Have bought three remotes....nothing.  Have also original.  Travel with it to see if anyone would help.  Any good reps in Washington DC metro area?

I am looking for a quiet thru wall unit.does LG make a dual inverter they wall unit or something comparable??

I just had this model (professionally) recommended and installed by an HVAC company to replace a 40 year old window unit that had been instaled through the wall. In my case, the hole in the wall was already framed out like a window but with no actual window. The framing for it is sturdy and all the grills outside are free and clear. So I suppose you could do it if you have a similar framed out space for it. And it is very quiet.

What kind of plug is on this unit- a 110 or 220?

The LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM has to be plugged into a standard 240 V, 3-wire grounding receptacle rated at 15 A, 60Hz. The NEMA configuration for the plug is 6-15P (two horizontal blades over a d-shaped grounding pin)...^IFV

Will this unit fit inside a 26.5 inch wide window opening if used without side fillers?

The LG 18,000 BTU DUAL Inverter Smart wi-fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW1817IVSM has a width of 26" without the front grille so it will fit into an opening of 26 1/2", but you definitely cannot use the left and right curtain panels, so you will need to find some way of closing the openings on either side of the air conditioner after installation. You also need to take into consideration that you only have a 1/4" of room on either side of the air conditioner to work with when installing it which will not be enough space to fit your hands through to hold the unit securely while installing it. The unit weighs 110 lbs and that might be a challenge if you cannot get your hands around the unit to hold is securely to install it...^IFV
