Electric Range Installation

[Narrator]
  • With its intuitive design and practical economics LG makes it easy to properly install and setup your new electric double oven range.

  • This video will take you through the step-by-step process.

  • So you can start cooking with the many features your range has to offer. Before we begin you'll need a pair of working gloves, and a screwdriver. You will also need a 240 volt electric range power cord which is readily available at any local home improvement store. There are 2 types of power cords, 3 or a 4 wire hookup. Check your existing outlet in your kitchen to correctly choose which type you will need.

  • If required, check your local housing code for further information. If renovating or building a new kitchen, we recommend that the electrical outlet is installed 6 inches from the floor and 6 inches from the right side cabinet is ideal. After delivery and careful inspection of your new LG range, place the unit where it is to be installed leaving the back exposed for this is where you will be installing the power cord. To be safe, turn the breaker off that connects to your oven range outlet. You can also refer to the diagram provided for you on how to hook up your 3 or 4 wire power cord to your new appliance located near the bottom back of the range. Let's start first with the 4 wire setup.

  • Remove the screws holding the terminal block access cover. And pull off the access cover. Here you'll notice a black, white, and red wire connected to the terminal block. There is also a green ground screw. For your 4 wire setup, remove the bottom row screws of each block and then remove the green ground screw. You'll notice a copper tab which must be taken off, or pulled over as shown here. Pull your power cord through the connection plate. Place your green ground wire to the green ground screw opening and screw in the green ground screw.

  • Match each colored wire to the coordinating color and screw each wire on tightly with no gap or slack. Screw the access cover back into place. A chord strain relief is required to prevent accidental pull from the unit. Your power cord may or may not include a cord strain relief.

  • If it did not, refer to the instructions provided with your power cord to find the correct cord strain relief type at your local home improvement store.

  • The most common cord strain relief has 2 pieces. Place the piece with the smaller screw holes behind the cord with the angle tab inserted through the hole of the connection plate. Place the second piece in front with the angle tab inserted through the hole of the connection plate as well.

  • Finally, insert the screws into place to form a tight clamp. Where the 3 wires set up remove the screws holding the terminal block excess cover, and pull off the access cover. Here you will notice a black, white, and red wire connected to the terminal block. Because there is no grain grounding wire going to leave the copper tag in the green ground screw as is. Pull your power cord through the connection plate.

  • Next you're only connecting the 3 wires to the black, white, and red terminal blocks. The middle wire of your 3 wire cord should always be attached to the middle white terminal block.

  • And the other remaining wires can then be attached to either sides of the block.

  • Once the power cord has been installed, screw the access cover back into place.

  • Finally, insert the screws into place to form a tight clamp. Plug your new LG Range into the outlet, and turn on the breaker. When the appliance is first plugged in, after installation of either power cord, you will then hear a musical tone with the display turned on. It will instruct you to set the clock. Do so by selecting a clock button. Into your time, and select the start button.

  • For older electric range models, you will see PF on the cooktop, and main displays. This is not an error code. This simply means that the appliance was temporarily without power. To clear the PF message, press the ON/OFF button on the cooktop controls and then press the clear off button on the oven controls.

  • You are now ready to use your new LG electric double oven range.

  • Here's a quick tip. When first operating your new LG oven, you may notice a smoky odor which is normal for a new oven and will dissipate over time.

  • We recommend running a Self-clean cycle for a minimum of 2 hours before initial use to help speed up this process.

  • Please watch our video on Using Self-clean for further details and thorough instruction.

  • Thank you for watching our customer support video.

  • We hope you enjoy your LG experience.
