Loss of Suction - Canister Vacuum

If you are experiencing a loss of suction or poor cleaning performance from your LG vacuum cleaner, the first and most important step is to check your foam pre filter. The foam pre filter should be cleaned as often as possible to provide the best suction on your vacuum cleaner.

It is very important to thoroughly clean the wire mesh inside the filter housing. This should be cleaned as often as possible, as it affects suction power in your vacuum.

To clean the foam pre filter, open the top cover by pressing the release button and lifting up on the cover. Remove the filter housing by gently pulling up on the handle located above. Separate the filter from the frame by pushing on the filter tab release and shake out any excess dirt or debris. Rinse the foam filter and frame with clean water. In order to clean thoroughly, use a soft cleaning brush to loosen any stubborn debris from the filter frame. After thoroughly rinsing, squeeze out any excess water and let the filter dry completely. Reinstalling a wet filter can cause permanent damage to your vacuum cleaner.

With the filter housing removed, pull on the dust separator tab to gain access to the chamber. Remove any hair, fibers, or debris from the dust separator. Clean the interior with a soft cloth or a paper towel.

LG's compressor system squeezes in more dust and hair, but eventually reaches the maximum limit. A full bin can lead to debris backing up into the air channel and negatively affect suction power. To remove the dustbin, press the dust bin release and pull the bin out and away from the vacuum body. Hold the dustbin cover and firmly pull apart from the bin to expose the contents. Allow the debris to fall into a receptacle. Reinstall the bin by placing it in the holder and tilting forward until it clicks into place.

Next, clean the HEPA filter. Remove the exhaust filter cover and lift the HEPA filter out by pressing the hook release. Wash the filter in clean water. Let the filter dry completely prior to reinstalling.

Finally, there may be a clog in one of the hoses. The most likely places for a clog are where the hose or dustbin attaches. Release the wand by pressing the wand release button. Separate each of the accessories and then check for clogs. Remove any debris and reinstall the accessories. Disconnect the dustbin and check the dustbin inlet and the body where it connects to the vacuum cleaner body. Remove any debris causing an obstruction and reinstall the dustbin. Disconnect the hose where it connects to the back of the body by pressing the release button at the top end of the hose. Remove any debris causing an obstruction and reinstall the hose. Turn the vacuum cleaner over and check the agitator inlet for blockage. It may be necessary to remove the agitator and lint hose.

Ensuring these filters are clean and following these steps will make certain that the suction power of your LG vacuum cleaner is at its peak performance at all times.
