LG Refrigerator - Using the ThinQ Features and Settings

At a Glance

Connecting your LG refrigerator to the ThinQ® app gives you the ability to access and manage various features and settings of the unit from your smartphone.

Device Options:

  • You can use the ThinQ app to easily adjust the temperature settings of your refrigerator.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on refrigerator or freezer to adjust the temperature.

    3. Adjust the temperature up or down to the desired setting using the [+] or [-] buttons.

    4. Press [OK] to save the setting.


  • Ice Plus increases both ice making and freezing capabilities of the freezer compartment for 24 hrs.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Ice Plus toggle to turn this feature on or off.

    Note

    This feature will turn off automatically after 24 hrs.

  • Panorama View allows you to see what's inside the refrigerator without opening it, saving energy and keep food fresh.

    Note

    Feature availability will vary depending on your refrigerator model.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Panorama View.

    3. Select the portion of the refrigerator you want to view.

    4. Press Save Image if you wish to capture the image.

  • Fresh Air Filter helps remove odors from the refrigerator. The Fresh Air Filter has two settings, Auto and Power.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Fresh Air Filter.

    3. Switch modes between Auto and Power.

    • Power: the Fresh Air Filter cycles on and off in increments of ten minutes on and 110 minutes off.
    • Auto: the Fresh Air Filter stays on continuously for four hours, cycling on and off in increments of ten minutes on and five minutes off. After four hours, the Fresh Air Filter switches back to Auto mode.

  • Smart Grid automatically turns on when the refrigerator is connected to the Wi-Fi network.

    When the refrigerator is responding to a Demand Response (DR) message from the electric company, the Grid text illuminates.

    Note

    Feature availability will vary depending on participation of the utility company in your area.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Scroll down to Smart Grid and select on of the following:

    • Not Used: Smart Grid function is not in use.
    • Peak Energy Saver: This feature is enabled if you sign up for Demand Response with your local utility company.
    • Seasonal Energy Saver: This reduces energy consumption during the peak hours set by your utility company.

Useful Features:

  • Shopping List allows you to add items to a list as reminder for purchase.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Useful Features.

    3. Select Shopping List.

  • Filter Management allows you to check the status operation time of the Fresh Air Filter .

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Useful Features.

    3. Select Filter Management.

  • Energy Monitoring allows you to track usage levels for the day, week, month, or year.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Useful Features.

    3. Select Energy Monitoring.

  • Smart Diagnosis allow you to perform a diagnosis of your refrigerator from your smartphone to identify any malfunctions with the unit.

    1. Select the refrigerator device card in the ThinQ app.

    2. Tap on Useful Features.

    3. Select Smart Diagnosis.

    4. Follow the on screen prompts to complete, for more information on how to use the Smart Diagnosis option, please check our How to Use Smart Diagnosis article.
