Wi-Fi Dropping or Not Connecting - Mobile Phone

This article is regarding troubleshooting common Wi-Fi Issues.

  1. What Issue are You Experiencing?

    Can't ConnectConnection Dropping
  2. Forget and Reconnect

    Swipe down the notification tray, and open the Settings menu.

    Go to the Network tab.

    Select Wi-Fi from the menu.

    Long press the network you are having issues with, press Forget Network and reconnect.

    Note: If when you connect the Authentication Failed error message appears, we recommend you reset your Wi-Fi password.

  3. Restart Modem and Router

    We recommend restarting your router and modem at this point, as it could be the cause of your issue.

    1. Power off your Router
    2. Power off your Modem
    3. Wait 30 seconds
    4. Power on your Modem
    5. Power on your Router

  4. DNS Server Check

    We recommend you check your router settings, to ensure you are connected to the Google DNS server.

    1. Connect directly to your Router from a device connected to the router using the router IP address.
    2. Note: If you can't connect via Wi-Fi, you may need to connect directly via Ethernet.

    3. Find the screen in which DNS server settings are specified.
    4. Replace the addresses in the DNS Fields with the Google IP addresses
    5. Note: If there are IP addresses specified in the fields for the primary and seconday DNS servers, write them down for future reference.

      • For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4.
      • For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.
    6. Save and Exit

    I'm sorry we were unable to resolve your issues here. If you are still having issues on only your LG device, we recommend you contact LG customer support. If you are experiencing difficulties across multiple devices, we recommend you contact your router manufacturer for additional troubleshooting.

  6. Forget Network

    Swipe down the notification tray, and open the Settings menu.

    Go to the Network tab.

    Select Wi-Fi from the menu.

    Long press the network you are having issues with, press Forget Network and reconnect.

  7. Screen Off Setting

    Swipe down the notification tray, and open the Settings menu.

    Go to the Network tab.

    Select Wi-Fi from the menu.

    Press the three dots to bring up the more options menu.

    Select Advanced Wi-Fi from the menu.

    Select Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off from the menu.

    Ensure Yes is selected from the menu.

  10. Wi-Fi Channel Check

    We recommend you download a W-Fi Analyzer app on your device, and check to see if the wireless channel your router broadcasts on is congested.

    If you find that it the channel is congested, please refer to your router manual on how to switch to a different channel.
