Ultra Slim Series Combines Cutting Edge Technology and Distinctive Design

Englewood Cliffs, NJ, December 16, 2004 - LG Electronics, a global pioneer in high performance LCD technology, today unveiled its Ultra Slim line of LCDs, the latest offering powered by LG's award-winning f-ENGINE technology. Available in both 17" and 19" LCDs, this unique eye-catching monitor folds to within 66 millimeters, bends backwards, rotates and has a double-hinged arm that adjusts to any viewing angle.

Powered by LG's exclusive f-ENGINE technology, the displays carry a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 (SXGA) and a lightning-fast 12ms response time making the performance of these LCD as impressive as their design.

"At LG we feel it is important to pay as much attention to the design and appearance of our monitors as we do their performance. Our new Ultra Slim series is a great marriage of both," said Morris Lee, Senior Vice President, LG IT Brand Division. "Other manufacturers have developed similar products to our Ultra Slim series, but they can't match the achievements we have made in image quality or design."

The unique construction of the Ultra Slim models allow the LCDs to fold to only 66 millimeters in height, and in combination with LG's AutoPivot technology, the screen can rotate 90 degrees automatically transforming a landscape document into a portrait. Another distinguishing feature of an Ultra Slim LCD is the double-hinged arm enabling the LCD to bend backwards allowing the image to be viewed by somebody sitting on the opposite side of the LCD.

"The Ultra Slim series represents a big advancement in the design and physical appearance of our LCDs moving forward," said Chris Neff, Director of Marketing, LG Electronics IT Brand Division. "We are always trying to differentiate ourselves from the crowd and the Ultra Slim series certainly does that with its great design and cutting-edge technology."

Both the 17" and 19" versions come with analog and DVI inputs along with a viewing angle of 160/140*. With a bezel measuring only 22 millimeters the LG Ultra Slim series can gracefully adapt to a multitude of situations, work spaces or computing needs. Each monitor also features touch-sensitive buttons and an advanced software package that allows even the most savvy users to fine tune their LCDs to their personal preferences.

As with all LG LCD panels, the entire Ultra Slim series exceeds ISO 9000 standards and comes with an industry-leading three-year, QuickSwap Replacement warranty. The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the 17" (Flatron L1780U) and the 19" (Flatron L1980U) are $695 and $795 respectively. About f-ENGINE
An exclusive technology developed by LG Electronics, f-ENGINE is the first picture-enhancing chip with the ability to actually enhance brightness and color independently of each other, resulting in the most true to life images available in LCDs today.

f-ENGINE is an integrated digital high-quality picture system fueled by LG Electronics' Digital Adaptive Fine Image (DAFI) technology, that separates the relationship between brightness and color so that each can be adjusted without negatively affecting the other. For the first time in the industry, LG Electronics is making it possible to improve the color or brightness of an image without experiencing any degradation in either, for genuine viewing pleasure.
