New 81 Series Features Clean Lines, Multiple Viewing Angles and Crisp, Sharp Images
Englewood Cliffs, NJ, May, 2005 --- LG Electronics IT Brand Division, a pioneer in high performance LCD technology, today unveiled the 81 series, the latest addition to its Ultra Slim line of LCDs that features a sleek new bezel design with a power button located flush to the edge of the panel allowing the LCD's to be stacked. Like its predecessor, the 81 series folds, bends backwards, rotates and has a double-hinged arm that adjusts to any viewing angle. Either model, the L1981Q (19") and the L1781Q (17"), also features a lightning-fast 8ms response time, a plus for gamers and multimedia enthusiasts.
Powered by LG's exclusive f-ENGINE technology, the displays carry a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 (SXGA) and a contrast ratio of 500:1 making the performance of these LCDs as impressive as their design.
"Design, technology and real-world functionality are the traits we strive to accentuate in all LG LCD products," said Morris Lee, President, LG IT Brand Division. "Our customers will find the new 81 series still has every great feature found in our previous Ultra Slim offerings, but can now stack the units on top of each other to accommodate added viewing options."
The unique construction of the Ultra Slim models allows the LCDs to fold to just over 2 inches in height, rotate from a landscape to a portrait view and even bend 180o backwards allowing a person sitting across from you to view your screen. Thanks to LG's AutoPivot (landscape to portrait) and Auto Mirror (bend 180o backwards); the image automatically adjusts to accommodate the position of the screen.
"The Ultra Slim series represents a big advancement in the design and physical appearance of our LCDs," said Chris Neff, Director of Marketing, LG Electronics IT Brand Division. "We are always trying to differentiate ourselves from the crowd and with the Ultra Slim's great design, cutting-edge technology and blazing fast response-time, we're ahead of the game."
The 81 series is bundled with forteManager, the most advanced color management software package available which enables even the most savvy users to fine tune their LCDs to their personal preferences. LG's forteManager also contains the company's proprietary Auto Mirror and Auto Pivot functions.
The L1781Q and L1981Q come with analog and DVI inputs along with a viewing angle of 160/160o. Featuring a bezel measuring less then one inch, LG's Ultra Slim series can gracefully adapt to a multitude of situations, work spaces or computing needs. Each monitor features touch-sensitive buttons and cable ports located on the back of the base to allow for easy connectivity. In addition, LG provides standard VESA mounting brackets for easy wall mounting.
As with all LG LCD panels, the entire Ultra Slim series exceeds ISO 9000 standards and comes with an industry-leading three-year, QuickSwap Replacement warranty. Consumers can find the nearest LG retailer by visiting and selecting "Computer Products."

About f-ENGINE
An exclusive technology developed by LG Electronics, f-ENGINE is the first picture-enhancing chip with the ability to actually enhance brightness and color independently of each other, resulting in the most true to life images available in LCDs today.
f-ENGINE is an integrated digital high-quality picture system fueled by LG Electronics' Digital Adaptive Fine Image (DAFI) technology, that separates the relationship between brightness and color so that each can be adjusted without negatively affecting the other. For the first time in the industry, LG Electronics is making it possible to improve the color or brightness of an image without experiencing any degradation in either, for genuine viewing pleasure.
