GET EVERYTHING CONNECTED
All your setup questions should be answered here. We cover how to connect your HD devices, your smartphone, and more.
CONNECT YOUR EXTERNAL HD DEVICES
Your LG Smart TV is great for all sorts of entertainment—digital cable, video gaming, and a host of other devices. There are several options for getting them set up and the diagrams below should remove some of the guesswork.
- To prevent equipment damage, never plug in any power cords until you have finished connecting all equipment.
- Image shown may differ from your TV.
- Once you connect an HD receiver, DVD Player, or VCR to the TV, select an appropriate input mode.
HDMI is the best way to connect a device. It transmits both the digital video and audio signals from your external device to your TV. Connect your device and the TV with the HDMI cable as shown in the following illustration. Choose any HDMI input port to connect (it does not matter which port you use).
ARC (Audio Return Channel)
- When connected with a high-speed HDMI cable, digital audio can be sent to a compatible device without an additional optical audio cable.
- ARC is only supported on the HDMI (4K@60Hz)/DVI IN 2 (ARC) port. An external audio device that supports ARC should be connected to HDMI (4K@60Hz)/DVI IN 2 (ARC) if you wish to use ARC.
This connection transmits analog video and audio signals from an external device to the TV. Connect your device and the TV with a component cable as shown in the following illustration. Check to ensure the cables are matched with the corresponding color connection.
If cables are installed incorrectly, it could cause the TV image to display in black and white or with distorted color.
CONNECT TO YOUR AUDIO SYSTEM
You may use an optional external audio system instead of the built-in speaker. Connect your external audio device and the TV with the digital optical audio cable as shown in the following illustration.
When connected with a high-speed HDMI cable, digital audio can be also sent to a compatible device without an additional optical audio cable using ARC (Audio Return Channel). ARC is only supported on the HDMI/DVI IN port marked with "(ARC)". An external audio device that supports ARC should be connected to that port if you wish to use ARC.
Do not look into the optical output port. Looking at the laser beam may damage your vision.
SET UP YOUR DEVICES WITH UNIVERSAL CONTROL
It's quite simple to connect your Blu-Ray™ disc player, home theatre system, sound bar, or gaming console to your LG Smart TV — and then control all your devices with one remote. We'll show you how.

Think of your TV as the hub of your home entertainment universe. And, for a truly impressive sound experience, you can send the audio from streaming movies and videos out of the TV to your home theater system or sound bar. This can be done with ARC (Audio Return Channel) or an Optical Audio Cable. Watch the videos below for each type of connection.

CONNECT TO YOUR GAMING SYSTEM
Most gaming systems can connect to your TV using a variety of cables. Determining which cables you should use depend on what cable jacks you have available on your television and your personal preference for how you wish to experience your gaming content. Here are some helpful links from a few manufacturers to help you get set up.
CONNECT TO A PC
Want to hook up your PC to your TV? It's easy! Your TV provides Plug & Play capabilities, meaning that your PC will adjust automatically to its settings. All that great content on your PC can now be on your TV. Just choose whether you'll connect with an HDMI or DVI to HDMI connection and follow either diagram below.
Choose any HDMI input port to connect (it does not matter which port you use).
CONNECT TO A MOBILE PHONE
Go to "device connector" on the launcher bar (green icon with the two plugs on the all apps section) or say "device connector" from voice control. From the device connector, click on the "connect mobile phone" option. Follow the instruction prompts.
CONNECT TO A USB DRIVE
You can connect a USB storage device such as a USB flash thumbdrive, external hard drive, or a USB memory card reader to the TV and access the Smart Share® menu to use various multimedia files. Choose any USB input port to connect (it doesn't matter which one you choose).
Some USB hubs may not work. If a USB device connected using a USB hub is not detected, connect it to the USB port on the TV directly.
