Meaning of Error Codes
Your washer is equipped with an automatic error-monitoring system to detect and diagnose problems at an early stage. When it finds irregularities, it uses codes to warn you. Here are a few of the error codes you may encounter, and what you should do when you see them.
An OE error code conveys that the washing machine has not successfully drained the water in 10 minutes. It doesn't always mean that the washer requires service. There are a few simple steps you can take before calling us.
Check the drain pump filter. Over time, detergents and additives can cause build up, causing items to get caught in the drain filter and prevent proper drainage. If that's the case, manually drain the unit through the drain hose, remove the filter and clean it thoroughly before restarting the machine.
Check the drain hose. Make certain that the drain hose is installed no more than 3 feet higher than the bottom of the washing machine.
Check the washer leveling. If not the washer isn't level, the water can flow back into the machine. If this is the cause of the problem, use a level and the supplied leveling wrench to adjust appropriately.
When you see the DE error code, it means a "door error". This is a sign that either the door is not shutting, locking or opening. Most of the time, this is a simple fix and service is probably not needed. Here's what might be happening and what you can do.
It might just be a malfunction. If the code appears mid-cycle or at the end of the cycle, power off the washer and unplug it. Wait for five minutes before plugging it back in. Power it on and see if the door latch releases. If it doesn't, service will be required. Contact us.
An item may be caught in the door. Unplug the washer and wait five minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on. If the door still doesn't unlock, the item could be pushing on the door and preventing the latch from unlocking. Service may be required. Contact us.
Is the door or gasket damaged in any way? That may prevent your washer from latching or locking, resulting in a DE error code. Check your warranty policy to determine coverage under the manufacturer's warranty.
The LE error code can indicate a problem with the motor, but it's usually an issue that originated during installation, or one related to misuse, that should be fairly easy to resolve.
New installations. A miscommunication between the control panel and the wash motor after installation can cause this error. In this case simply reset the washer.
- To reset, first unplug the machine, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for five seconds, and plug it back in.
- Run a RINSE & SPIN cycle to test if the code is cleared.
Are there soapsuds visible in the drum? If yes, then the problem is usually that too much detergent has been used, or a non-high-efficiency detergent was used. To resolve, you'll need to remove any excess soap suds and light residue. Here's how:
- Unplug the washer and allow it to sit for 30 minutes. This gives the suds time to dissolve.
- Plug the washer back in and turn it on.
- Press the SPIN SPEED button and select "No Spin".
- Press the START/PAUSE button to begin a drain only cycle.
- When complete, remove clothing items.
- Turn the power back on, select RINSE & SPIN and press the START/PAUSE button.
- Repeat the last step until no visible suds are in the drum.
Large loads don't go well with gentle wash. Gentle wash cycles such as Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, and Wool/Silk should be used only for smaller loads. Reset the unit (see above) and run a test RINSE & SPIN cycle.
Avoid overloading. Single bulky items or large loads can place stress on the motor. Remove some items and restart. If the problem continues, unplug the washer, allow the motor to cool down for 30 minutes, and restart the cycle.
The UE error code is nothing to worry about. It indicates an "unbalanced error"—your washer's way of saying that the drum is not spinning in a smooth rotation. Fixing it could be as simple as rearranging the load in the drum. Here's why:
Small loads.Your washer operates better when the weight of the load is evenly distributed across the drum, but that is not always possible with small loads.
Mixed fabric loads.For example, if you're washing jeans and t-shirts, the jeans could be on one side and the t-shirts on the other, causing the unbalance. Try rearranging the items and spin again.
Large single items.Items like sheets, blankets and comforters tend not to spread out evenly, causing unbalance when the drum spins. Rearrange the item and start the spin cycle over.
SpinSense Option.SpinSense detects an unbalance sooner than the normal operational detection. The benefit is that the load has a better chance of being rebalanced successfully. SpinSense may also reduce the maximum spin speed selected to help prevent vibrations. This is determined by algorithmic measurements programmed in to the main board of the unit. Useful on large, heavy loads and loads containing large, bulky items such as sheets, blankets, pillows, etc.
